Ha even Nisbo was confused about which Barrett it was...
That's because he's a dumbass. He had only just called BBs name on the ball on the other side of the field. The guys quick but not so quick that 2 seconds later he beams 40 metres away.

Only saw first half, but it was the typical disjointed effort we've come to expect this season, incredible brilliance mixed with lazy shit. Those cross field kicks are absurd. Will be hilarious if the Lions target those, but then BB goes up the guts.
Btw when is BB going to recover from this debilitating injury? He needs to practice kicking, because there ain't no way Jordie will be there against the Lions.

One of my early criticisms of BB was that his vision wasn't very 'wide' tactically. Brilliant at spotting opportunities in front of him but not so much with tactical kicking or passing the ball to weak areas.
He seems to have really grown this part of his game even if overdoing it at the moment. The good thing is that he is quickly recognising a compressed defence or mismatch out wide and not just doing it when its not on or a higher risk. The final string to his bow I'd like to see more of now is positional kicking into space behind the line and better clearance distance when relieving pressure.
I want perfection dammit!

You certainly are a hard task master when assessing the Beauden!
I definitely agree that his pressure relieving kicks close to the line were ratshit before and are certainly still a work-on.
I think a good sign for us and a bad omen for the Lions is that he hasn't run that much with the ball this season.

It's all in the desire for AB improvement.
I want BB to have all the basic DC skills (including goalkicking if needed) and add his extras. Otherwise we are just swapping one strength for another.
He only has a few to go.
Hopefully we will see him rip the Lions a new one with a DC 2005 like masterclass. -

I was disturbed by the Canes not taking the points. Particularly at 17-10. Thought that showed little appreciation of how close the game dtill was. (Was ok with the first 3 lineout options at 22 all ... but thiught the 4th pen could have been a shot).
-
Jeez Jules gets some shit on here. Sets up a brilliant try with his pace to run on a kick and beat a player. Gets chased by one of the fastest guys in th opposition and he's "Fatty". Fuck sake.

Had to laugh at the first try coming off Shields most honed skill... smashing the ball forward off his hands.
Jordie's passing is perplexing. He's the master of the unorthodox pass, especially near the sideline...but put him in midfield with a straight hands call and he throws it all over the shop.
-
Think that game showed a few players whose names are being bandied about for the Lions as not there yet, most notably Shield and JB....obviously the canes getting bossed at the breakdown isn't all on shields, but he is a senior player and he needed to rally the troops through that middle period when the Stormers looked like they could nab the game.
JB for all his outrageous skills, does make some basic errors, but in both cases, these guys have all the skills and attributes and are things the ABs can iron out but surely ain't gonna happen justbyet
-
@taniwharugby JB doing his speciality on Kolisi just before half time. Diving on the ground in front of him, just lucky Kolisi wasn't watching and tripped over him. Really doesn't like being the last line of defence...
-
On BB, one of the problems he had before 2016 was that he stood too deep. The AB coaches prefer their 1st 5s to stand flatter, which increases your options at the advantage line. And with his acceleration he is deadly. Both the Canes and ABs benefitted from this last year, and will do so again this season.

The no try to Laumape... Would be nice if they took the whole situation into consideration. JB kicks and immediately goes in front of Laumape, putting him back onside.
Yeah I was wondering about that? What is the exact rule? I'm pretty sure JB was in front of Laumape when he caught it.
-
Pretty sure if you are offside like that you have to move back (i.e. Make an effort to basically turn around and get back behind the kicker). You can't just get magically put back onside by a faster player.
It's related to the 10 meter offside law I think.
