I can honestly say, I've never seen a better handling side in the history of Rugby than this team Hansen has put together. The skills on display in the final try were just incredible, almost unbelievable.
They played very well I thought at the end of a long season, however when they come to face a team who does the basics well, and I'm afraid the Aussies are far too inconsistent at the moment, it will be a lot closer.

@ACT-Crusader dunno if you saw it on tv but we saw it from the stand
I'm pretty sure on TV a few phases before Saveas Jonah-esque try - actually before Coles try off Saveas run, fuck knows where this incident was cause I'm looking back through highlights and can't find it anyway, Retallick carts the ball up, then nek minnit he's flat out on the ground - at the Bar we missed entirely what may have happened, did he cop a punch or?
I was waiting for play to break down and Owens to go back and check for foul play, but then we scored.
Also the touchy never flagged it so presumably it was nothing... -
@antipodean Agree but consistency is the key and stamina? What a drop off in performance or deviation from the game plan or the ABs were just clinical in jumping on mistakes.

The no try: I watched this game with an American mate whose been getting into the game lately, he's a big (US) Football fan and when that idiot Oz winger took Savea out he actually said that he thought that was one of the rules of rugby, that you couldn't block.
FFS, maybe it was harsh on the Aussies but the fact is he interfered with a defender without the ball. It doesn't matter that the defender was behind the player (the cry baby Oz commentators* seem to think you can take anyone out behind the player) you still can't interfere with them. I don't know why anyone would try and claim it's ok to do that to a defender. It was stupid play by Hallet-Petty, Cheika should man up and lay the blame on his player who did a stupid thing.
*Kafer - you used to be the best analyst going around, now you've just turned it to a facsimilie of the crybaby whinger Kearns.
Savea - What to do with Fatty? Do we start him so he can spend 50-60 minutes bumbling around like a keystone cop and then go beast mode for 20-30 minutes? Or do we just chuck him on at 60 minutes and hope the bumbling isn't compulsory? That's the most schizophrenic game of rugby by a player I've seen.
Kaino - As Mokey noted, why take him off? He was in full beast mode on defence and was turning over the ball in tackles regularly. (Not saying Squire didn't go well).
Todd - That was a better game than I've ever thought I'd see him play. Lacks Cane's consistent stinging defence but put in a couple of good hits in the second half and had an all round strong game.
Not a classic win, but hey the ABs ran in 6 tries. That's a bonus point win while only in third gear.
Couldn't we just run Savea through a pre-grame warm-up like half a beep test and a series of handling drills, like guys just throwing balls at him for 20min. Let him play the first half in beast mode - then sub him...
He'll score two tries and skittle a bunch of defenders, game will be over, bring on Cruden, shift Barrett and then we'll smash them for pace.#winnersaregrinners

I think our forward pack needs to bring more physicality. Iaone for the EOYT and lets put PT in that reserve pack and start blooding him. They were dominated for 50 minutes and that just can not happen. Had that try been awarded to Oz it may have been different. I think Speight was gone. It was just stupid of Petty to run the line he did. He didn't have to and it was an obvious deviation. While Todd did some good stuff he does not have the physical presence close to Cane and remember he was run through by the Aussie lock who scored. I think there were too many people creaming themselves about his performance. Our reserve props added more physicality than the starters. They stopped momentum instead of tackling and been carried back 5 to 10 yards. With TJP there was a bit of a delay in the pass. He was not shit though and with the bad you get the intangibles and the charge down an example. Plus he was doing plenty of tackling that the forwards were not.

PS. I see Foley walked back to take the kick and past Referee Owens, who explained he was looking at something further to do with the try. Foley throws his head back and says what sounds like "Oh fire-truck", which highlights a problem with the Qantas Harmless Wallabies. Owens had communicated politely and informatively and did not warrant that response.
They have no regard or respect for the authority of the referee, which is at the very least stupid, stupid, stupid. It's not as if they are the lords of the manor, strutting triumphantly, who can treat the hired help with disdain.
This is the kind of thing I'm talking about that rubs off from the coach.

Yes! to the Props being awesome
Without TJP in that first half, we would've been only up 10-7, and maybe down more, because he was into everything.
I think I almost prefer TJP if the game is going to be combative like that. I'm not sure Aaron Smith is the automatic walk-up start anymore. TJP combo with BB important too. -

So...
Any of you still think the officials don't favour the ABs?
Two TMO calls. First one right second one wrong. Wobs get the benefit of the incorrect one.

How much of a victim is Cheika?!?!
He is the Winger of Aussie rugby. Everything is a conspiracy.
I feel a bit sorry for him that he has a train of thought like that. He must be a very simple person
I think he belongs in the same catagory as Woodward, just an absolutely phenomenal lack of self awareness .
-
@taniwharugby I dont care. I see so much upside that Squire, Todd nor Dixon don't have. Personality flaw or not. Bring him in because he can be developed into something Kainoish and more.

Check the ~52:36 mark of actual game time, 18:40 on the YouTube clip and watch Retallick cop an elbow to the head from Dean Mumm...
We thought he was knocked out at the bar, and wondered if he'd copped a whack then...

Didn't look forward to Veldsman either.
I forgot that one.
Change my previous post to "Three TMO decisions. First one right. Second and third wrong ... "

@broughie who gets dropped for Akira?
I think he is quite a way off being test ready.
I just scanned through the game as I recall a head butt from Hooper, anything come from it?
It was pretty tame but still, I have seen that get carded before. Crotty also got a hefty kick to the face at one point that may not have been deliberate but was 'deliberately reckless'. A swinging leg toward the head of a player near the ball.

@NTA maybe it is an act designed to shield his players; I'm not convinced
Well, the Kiwi journalists were lapping it up, based on what they were asking during the AB presser.
So the talk on this side of the ditch will be about the no-try. And the positives, maybe.
Over your way I'm sure the NZH or stuff already have something up about DUSRISPICT!!! Followed by half a dozen pages of ejaculations regarding world records etc and whether it will stop at 25 (to take out those pesky Cypriots once and for all), or get to triple figures.
Cool. An accent joke. That's new and refreshing.

Did you see my post regards Mumm elbows Retallick about 52.40. There was a few niggly off the ball things, equally I took delete in Coles smacking Mumms head into the turf after tackling that mutant giraffe.
