Donβt think he has what it takes to be an AB winger. A bit of a one season wonder.
Agree with first sentence, disagree with second.

Robertson snub?
Foster gave him a shot and then didn't pick him again, after he was playing even better at lower levels...he is the epitome of the comment 'plays one side' although certainly not the only one.
Maybe, just maybe he was given work ons, but failed to meet the requirements?
Have to assume that both Fozzie and Razor see something that didnt quite fit, kinda the same way these guys continually pick players we see as a poor fit...
I hate losing players like him, but the hyperbolic headlines help no one.

Wasted talent in the end which is a shame. Yeah he had defensive deficiencies (not the only one), but he never got a fair crack. He had all the skills to be a good fullback, but sadly in the last few years, they've always favored the hybrid 10/15s.

Foster had decided Stevenson wasn't up to it and Razor followed suit
Beauden Barrett had utter rubbish defence when he started. Dane Coles was out of control. Good coaches make players better. Bad coaches discard them. Both those guys could have been thrown away and gone overseas.
So far this year I am seeing little of the much hyped man management in the selections.

Absolutely gutted we are losing Shooter ,been very privileged to have interviewed him on a few occassions in the last few years a really good bugger with an amazing skill set that is ready made for international rugby
I could rattle off a list of All Blacks who wereβnt the best defenders but the coaches at the time backed the rest of their skill sets to a job for the teamBest wishes to a top man

@KiwiMurph well said , in what world was Fihaki a better option than Stevenson ?

Shame about Stevenson going, (say the same about anything that takes away depth) but I maybe not as gut wrenched as a few. I always thought he was a bloody good 15 with a good punt, but maybe seemed to go missing big times in quite a few games. Very much like Akira Ioane type player, perhaps had everything but that last 2% in mind department? Just my take, so don't shoot me. I honestly thing Chiefs will be well served with ENS at 15, but I not really a Chiefs man so obviously not deep into it.

How Fihaki was selected in front of Stevenson I will never know. As a Canes fan I always saw Stevenson as a class player and a bit of a thorn in our side when we play the Chiefs. Huge loss for NZ rugby IMO but wish him well on his next phase of his career.

A shame he never got a test at fullback. He was a better fullback than wing.
Wish coaches in NZ saw the value in fullbacks with large punts.
I'm surprised he stuck around as long as he did.
Best of luck to him. A fine career in NZ.
It almost felt like they only picked him to get the public off their back whilst hoping that he failed at the same time so they had a reason not to pick him.
Unfairly treated imo. Not saying he was a long term AB or anything, but deserved more than. 1 test

I get this
But I want someone to explain the ways beauden Barrett is better than SS.
Established players get so much more leeway than someone trying to get in.

Stevenson and ENS are both better than Fihaki and Reece. Reece has had ample opportunities but is a flake under the highball and lacks the pace to be an international winger plus he's a basically a crim that got two free passes.
The double standards of these coaches boggles the mind.

Don't forget Reece getting burned in that French game. He's clearly lost a bit of pace.

Apparently experience will magically make up for his lost pace. Razor logic.
