Strong at super rugby level, esp. 2015, in a team that developed a very successful attacking game plan around his attributes. Gives me confidence that he is very coachable and malleable. A bit nervous about how he'll go in Sydney in about 2 months so needs 80 this week to get him closer.

    It's only Australia....

I'm a big fan of his. I like some of the little things he does like going into 1st receiver, the odd pick n go. Then the willingness to take his defender on the outside (that's a rarity these days).

There were some concerning things about drawing and pass and just offloading in the tackle, but the promising thing is that he has done this stuff at Super level and I think he's the sort of player that when he's gained more and more experience we will see him take those options.

I don't think there is a more rampaging runner in the backs in NZ.

So, yes, it is more difficult to say no when you are a woman because you are more likely to get a negative reaction from a guy.

I'm not trying to argue that woman don't face all manner of issues around sexism in society, but all Gayle did wrong was ask her out on live tele which was embarrassing for Mel (I would say both of them but Gayle has no shame), but hardly a big deal. People jumping on their high horses and screaming "SEXISM" are undermining the real issues around sexism that are actually impacting woman. Just like people that try and find racism everywhere - undermining actual issues around race that we need to address.

I never said it was a big deal. Doesn't the fact that I repeatedly said Gayle didn't deserve a fine indicate that I thought it wasn't a big deal? Good lord, I'm glad I didn't see this until now.

What Gayle did was sexist but only mildly so. I don't think asking a woman out when she is working or busy is sexist, it is just inconsiderate unless the circumstances dictate otherwise. You guys make me sound like I'm crazy but all I'm saying is don't ask out the checkout lady if there are 30 people in line. No biggie. Just use your common sense. I'm hardly a poster boy for feminism.

It's a pretty good deal for football fans, I would think. As canefan said, it is cheaper than what came before and this gives you way more content. I don't think I will sign up as Bovidae says it is more the principle. I probably watch enough sport as is!

Just for shits and giggles who would your best XV contain if you could only pick 15 players from 15 separate Super Rugby teams in 2015. i.e You can only choose a player from a specific team once so pick wisely.

My team would be:

4. PIETER STEPH DU TOIT (SHARKS) - With the Stormers and playing brilliantly

12. DAMIAN DE ALLENDE (STORMERS) - Not playing brilliant

13. JESSE KRIEL (BULLS) - Playing very badly right now

Teams not used: Sunwolves, Force, Kings

Nonu deserves a lot of credit. But creating chances in RWC finals are not easy - scoring them from general play is even tougher. How far SBW opened the window for Nonu is up for debate but it was a shitload wider than almost any other playmaker has been able to in past RWC finals.

SBW did very well but it was Nonu's play that was truly outstanding.

I almost feel sorry for him that he's been playing basically the same era as Richie - as despite his stats not being at the top of the heap, he's an absolute role model and there is so much about him that is to be admired. Truly a great New Zealander, and he's accomplishments and approach needn't be overshadowed by the achievements of others.

Think the difference would be Richie was a role model for 10 years, the role model years for Baz were more like 2. Its like the Taylor / Hesson issue & the 45 all out basically grew him up & made him into the bloke that is worth 2 hours of anyones time.

Not saying he's not a role model, but there's no need to try & big up him to being Richie or Ed Hillary. Let the guy be who he is. If anything thats a better role model, kids don't need guys who were golden from day one, better to show them a guy who had a wake up moment & switched as Baz did.

They should retest every medalists' sample, every year, for the next 20 years. It'll cost a lot, but figure it out, find the money somewhere. Surely cheaper than no one watching the sport anymore.

Cheats who win gold medals definitely dine out on the achievement for longer than 20 years. Fuck 'em.

And in the final death throes of the season ......

Real Madrid take the UCL on penalties after a 1-1 draw with their cross-town rivals. Pretty much 100% different to predicted as Real played on the break after an early goal and Atleti bashed at the door and eventually bagged an equaliser after missing a penalty. In the penalty shoot-out, Juanfran was the only one to miss and Ronaldo got to take his shirt off - he'd been ineffective during the game and looked injured.

Hull are back in the Premier League which is a bit tedious - it means 2/3 of those relegated last season have bounced straight back (Hull & Burnley) and there's a fair chance they will go straight back down again without some investment in talent.

Meanwhile Barnsley achieved the not inconsiderable feat of being bottom after 20 games and getting promoted via the play-offs. They are back in the Championship. The final domestic game is AFC Wimbledon v Plymouth to go up to League One. Which would put Wimbledon in the same division as the franchise MK Dons that originally replaced them.
