Beauden Barrett signs new contract with .......
-

It's called a mall, but half the shops are closed and the food court is as depressing as I made it sound above. South City Mall in Dunedin is a close second.

I daresay Beauden Barrett would look down his nose at shopping at those joints (to make a weak attempt to bring this back on topic, seeing as I'm the one that took it off topic)
-

I didn't know Thames had a mall either, it must be quite the shithole judging by this https://m.reddit.com/r/newzealand/comments/4le6g0/new_zealands_saddest_malls/

jegga......I'm not sure where you find this shit but I seriously think your time would be better spent wasting time on FB instead. Shall I send you a link ?
-
The Barrett-Barrett inside halves pairing. Now thats an exciting thought. Come to the Canes Jordie! Surely you would rather be in a backline that included your bro, Milner-Skudder, Perenara and the BUS over that out of sorts Crusaders backline. To be fair if Jordie doesnt sign for the Red and Blacks it could be the worst Crusaders backline ever when you look at the players theyve had in the past and the fact that Nemani Nadalo has left the building.

Theyve got some serious signing to do otherwise this could be it next year:
9. Mitchell Drummond 10. Richie Mo'unga 11. Digby Ioane 12. Ryan Crotty/ Jordie Barrett 13. Jack Goodhue/ Ryan Crotty 14. Jone Macelai 15. Israel Dagg.

Canes will field: 9. TJ Perenara 10. Beauden Barrett 11. Julian Savea 12. Ngani Laumape/Vince Aso/Jordie Barrett 13. Matt Proctor 14. Nehe Milner Skudder 15. Peter Unaga Jensen / Jason Woodward -
Who was in their 1996 backline?? Anyway if the backline stays as it is it wouldn't fill me with too much confidence if I was a Crusaders fan. Youl need someone like Robbie Fruean to have a fully fit season to add a bit off punch. A shame as the forward pack is arguably the best in the comp.

So apart from Digby in for Nadolo, as you've pointed out, how is that much different to this season? Jordie comes in for Havili which many would call an upgrade. You could argue next year's backline is an improvement on this seasons.

Strange post.
-
How is it a strange post? The Crusaders pretty much were solely dependant on Nadalo to get them over the gain line this year. Now he's gone there is no1 who stands out that will take up that role. The Nadalo switch with Ioane is a big difference. You are getting a player long past his best that will have very little impact for the position he is in at his age. He wont be running over players like Nadalo did, I can tell you that for free.

By all means though keep that backline as it is, its done you wonders the last few years. 😂 -

A lot of guys that contributed to them finishing last.

Wurzels right that was a strange post.
-
That backline above cant be much better. No more Nadalo to save your blushes next year. It could be a long one for Crusaders fans if you dont sign firepower between now and Super Rugby kickoff.

Have a chat with the Blues theyve probably got too much firepower and not many tactically strong players, where the Crusaders are polar opposites. -

These youngsters, they win one title and then want to tell the world how it's done.... -
Crusaders fans, still riding on the legacy of those that went before. Keep riding it mate you wont be winning anymore titles with a backline like that, not in this era of Super Rugby. Variety is the key to keep the opposition guessing. You cant just go side to side like the Crusaders used to. Teams are bigger, fitter, faster, stronger and have the technology to nullify that.

As a Canes fan I want all Kiwi sides to be strong. I am only stating where the Crusaders need to strengthen the side to challenge for the title again, if you cant agree with me that the backline mentioned is below par then I guess there is no point continuing this discussion. -

1) Nadolo had his worst season of his three at the Crusaders in 2016

2) If you want to poke fun at the Crusaders backline you're a couple of seasons too late

They've been performing poorly for a few years now and the absence of Nadolo isn't going to be the big factor between next season's fortunes and last's
-

Your statement was that the Crusaders backline next year will be worse than this year.

If you wanted to discuss the Crusaders' title ambitions for 2017 you'd get no shortage of open discussion from frustrated Crusaders fans.

If it makes you feel any better then yes, the Hurricanes backline is awesome. I'd love to have TJP, BB and NMS. I could give or take another out-of-shape, one-trick-pony winger, though. We've only just farewelled our current one.
-
Where would you strengthen the side? Im purely interested as a kiwi rugby fan. Im not trying to rub you guys up the wrong way im just keen to know??

You obviously have a forward pack that can do-in any other side when they are hot but it seems like you have lacked punch the last few years and it doesnt look like improving anytume soon. Its strange as I remember Blackadder acknowledged it two seasons ago but didnt really do anything about it. I guess it didnt help when Fruean was ruled out for the whole season.

As a Crusaders fan where would you go if you were Scott Robertson. After watching Richies movie he made a good point - You have to do things differently so bringing in a few big boppers may be the right move. -
I wonder if this will turn into a Man U vs Liverpool type thing, I.e. we'll be celebrating a threepeat or something and Saders fans will scoff that they won 8 (even if the last one was 20 years ago).

Actually I don't think the Saders backline is too bad. They have Hall now right? So the halves pairing is solid and a midfield of Barrett and Crotty has massive potential. Dagg at fb and McNichol and Ioane on the wings. I've seen worse.

Btw who is that guy playing 13 for Canterbury at the moment? He was amazing when I saw them play a couple of weeks back. -

Jack Goodhue?

The Canes set up is the best at the moment of all the NZ franchises at turning talented young backs into world-class players (Julian Savea, Milner-Skudder, Beauden Barrett), Jordan Barrett will develop faster with Hurricanes.

What happened to Aaron Smith, Cruden and Dagg then? All from the 'canes catchment but became world class backs playing for someone else.

Maybe talent is talent?

I know you tongue is firmly in cheek but lets wait for the next few Super victories (which are inevitable of course) and crow about the dynasty then. We don't kick people when they are down. We leave that to certain crusaders fans. We learnt humility through 20 years of failure.
-

I'd like to see Rieko Ioane playing a couple of super seasons at center with Crotty at 12. Please poach him. I reckon he would be an awesome center when he gets a bit of experience and game sense.

They already poached Goodhue, who was pretty good when i was watching him in the Auckland 1A comp. Definitely one to watch out for.

Hopefully the Blues make a play for Jordie.. Desperate need of a first five.. Would be good to see him playing inside SBW, Moala, Rieko, Nanai..
