Very conservative selection. I don't mind, but the other lads might be wondering if they will get any game time.
My only complaint is Romano - what does he have that Tuipolotou doesn't? (experience I suppose...)

Apart from the Latin name, Luke R is considered a top scrummaging lock, whereas Pat T, whilst a powerhouse everywhere else, can't seem to put the rubber on the road in the scrums?!

One of the great myths I reckon.

@Billy-Tell I hope Pat hasn't fallen out of favour completely. I'd much rather have him coming on with 20 to go ahead of Romano.
-
He was an absolute beast coming off the bench before the injury ,
To be honest I havent been paying enough attention to notice how far away he has been from that level when given the opportunity since the comeback ?
-
something must be up with tuipolotou, he didn't get a run against the aussies which makes the 'argies scrum strongly' argument moot. romano has been a bit underwhelming, so i'm glad they're giving this new romero guy a crack - he'll probably be able to translate their lineout calls too.
-
We could all notice that Romano seems to have become a lot bigger the last few months. That's probably what the coaches expected of him, to increase his physicality against teams such as the Pumas and the Boks?
Anyway, I'd replace both Romano and Tuipulotu by Bird, if I could. He should be picked for the EOYT the way he's been playing for the Chiefs & now Canterbury, but I'm not sure how many players will be selected that are not already in the squad now.

Hopefully this Romero lad doesn't immediately fall over after contact like the other Luke.
-
Fuck that's a boring team. We're really scraping the barrell trying to have a discussion about Pat T v Romano v Romero.

Why/how do they name the team at 5am NZT for a home test?
Media release embargoed until 5am?
For the newspapers. Which is quaint, but appreciated.

I hear he's fairly handy in the Argentinean goal.
Ofa T, Pat T, DMac and TKB have been released to play in the Auckland-Waikato game on Sunday.
