The Canes are my team and I've waited a long long time to see them raise the cup. It feels a bit like RWC11, relief, and I think I'll enjoy the victory rather than think ahead to any sort of dynasty. The pressure is off next season, if we go well so be it but we'll always have 2016 :drinks:

More chance of one of us lacing up the boots for the Canes than Broadhurst. He's gone.

Where's the big Wellington College superstar you were pumping a few months ago ?

Hardest thing for me was watching my fav team lose to my second team (via uni time spent there). The Highlanders had suffered their fair share of heartache too and I was happy it was them if anyone. I know what you mean Siam, 2012 was a sweeeet year for me

I don't think the Canes will do three finals in a row. I think part of this year's success was driven by the disappointment of last year. Not a factor any longer.

"I don't think he's likely to play much Mitre 10 Cup this year, because twofold, he needs to get over his symptoms, and he hasn't done anything physically for 12 months, so he's got a bit to do to get into condition to play Super Rugby. He resembles a javelin at the moment and has lost a bit fair bit of condition.

Sounds like Broadhurst will be back at some point.

It's funny with these kinds of victories. Like 2011, I was more relieved than anything. I had a couple of beers during the game but had no desire to get pissed and go wild. But I guess it's very different if you're there or at a pub.

Tbh I'm still trying to get my head around it all. After round one I was just hoping they wouldn't get tonked in every game. That they finished first and won every finals game without conceding a try is straight out absurd.

The canes hit some form at the right time, had a few players come of age....but were pretty lucky as well....qualified top through dominos falling just the right way, played the ordinary sharks in quarters, then a jetlagged Chief team who decided to get the dropsys and the final against a team also looking to break its duck who were nervous and made a few poor decisions.

When Boyd/plum say they were thinking it was a rebuilding year and would be lucky to make playoffs, even they are surprised the canes won.

The TLDR version is I doubt we're looking a dynasty.

This is a bloody brilliant thread. Some of you are whining like jealous women.

Seeing the Canes win the Super title was sweet, but the challenge now is to become the dominant squad in Super Rugby for the next few years. Not easy at all.

Milner-Skudder coming back and Julian Savea sorting out his problems will make that back line even better. I'd like to see both Jordie and Scott Barrett join their big bro at the Hurricanes if possible. Sam Whitelock and Aaron Smith are welcome to come home too. Need to find a replacement for Victor Vito.

Lots of great sides in Super Rugby but I think all of them would like to have Dane Coles and Beauden Barrett that is for sure.
