Black Caps Tour to Zimbabwe

Yeah a better approach might be to dangle a 4.5 an over target for them to chase (regardless of time)

Sure they got 360 in the first but it was all at 2 an over for the most.

Lure them into the chase, just like we used to do at Mot Rec and the Botanics (never at Wanderers home ground though )
-

370 off 120 is only a bit over 3.0, so it's just asking them to up the rate a little.

This game is Zim's highest 4th innings total, so what does Kane remember? :)
-

Kinda feels like the Black Caps have sold themselves short, given how dominant they were in their first innings.

That said, it's hard to imagine that Zimbabwe will have the mental fortitude to dig in and see this out. As seems to happen in world cricket, whenever an average team is batting to save a match, they fall apart and go cheaply. I'd expect we'll have them 4 down by the end of today.

The TAB were paying $1.55 on a Black Caps win during the first session this morning. Looking okay money now
-

But not good enough to make an arbitrary test XI picked by Atherton et al that I saw on the interwebs .....

Ben Stokes the only NZer to make that team. :)

Little Kane edges past Steve Waugh and Sunny Gavaskar on the alltime averages list. Rossco past Neil Harvey and Doug Walters.

Adam Voges and Steve Smith top ten of alltime if they retire now - which tells you something about the current rate of average inflation.
-

Bit more of a challenge for him, MN5, than for Kane.

Ross's current average = 45.49

To average 50 after this Test needs:

518 runs not dismissed

568 runs out once

618 runs out twice

364 runs not dismissed over the 2 match series.

He gave it a good crack... :)
-

Ross 67no, average now 48.66

Ross not dismissed all series, made 364 runs in 3 innings :i_am_so_happy:

Snap, missed this post. Great to see them padding those averages :)
-

Yet Latham's already scored more test runs than Ryder, which was a bit of a shock to me, as it felt like Ryder was around a lot longer than he was.
-

that's an awesome effort from taylor. not the greatest attack, but you still need the concentration - and we know he has the ability to score runs against much better attacks (SA), so it's great to see him in the right frame of mind.

Yup, admittedly it's a shit attack but our top players have showed great patience to grind Zimbabwe into the dust. Their only chance was for us to get out playing rash shots, and we haven't given them a sniff. Great to see.
-

this was what Kane wanted them to do apparently. Just destrooy the attack gently and slowly. Such a change from 'play your natural game'
-

Did you note that coincidentally Jesse and Jack also share highest scores in test cricket of 201. Jack's was not out, though.
