@yeetyaah said in Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:
Strawbridge is still kicking around with the Waiakto squad so maybe he's an assistant?
He's now the Director of Rugby. Messam was in a Waikato kit too.
Moli, K Naholo and later Sullivan were sitting in the grandstand where I was.
The games were strange as CM somehow lost to BOP in their game and Waikato should have beaten Taranaki. The ref gave no reward for a dominant Waikato scrum in the 2nd half. Strang impressed at halfback in the 3rd/4th game.
Was Josh Coffin the starting LH for Waikato? If so, he looked good - very mobile.

Coffin was in 5 I think, he's a lock, got some serious size.
The lock that started against Taranaki. Yes, big unit, and much taller than his old man then.
From a Waikato perspective, I thought Collard looked better than Miln for the 1st 5s.

Some actual communication from Waikato.
Josh Coffin is a mate of my cousin. His dad is Phil Coffin who played for the Hurricanes in 96-97 and played a couple of non-test AB's games.
Nephew of Houtana then? One of my childhood heroes.

One of those is very under-whelming.
Good to see Ranger should tick up his hundred!

At least Gregory has βmidfielderβ next to his nae, rather than outside back!

@taniwharugby Ranger has been released by the Crusaders as injury cover , but has picked up a contract in Japan playing for the Panasonic Wild Knights coached by Robbie Deans, he flys out in 2 weeks .
He will be back before the start of the Mitre 10 Cup .
Ranger apparently had some very interesting observations of the Crusaders , said their attention to detail is next level ,they review games played as entire squad on iPads which includes the academy players going over situations where better decisions could have been madeAnd then leading up to a game ,a lot of analysis is spent on opposition tactics, which includes set piece moves , both scrum and lineout ,how the fast they move ball along the line , and where players are defending especially off multiple phases .
I must admit , none of this comes as a surprise to me , but does bring up the old question..Why is Scott Robertson not the All Black coach ..? -
@steven-harris hopefully he will bring back some of those learnings ( @Snowy @booboo ) home, I expect possibly a bit late to help him too much but certainly should be able to give the Northland coaches some insight and advice!
