Canes v Tahs (and drinks?)

Didn't matter when Sailor and Lote started. They didn't know them either. -

Does this mean the Tahs will probably miss out on the play-offs? Very sad times. I will miss their gentlemanly conduct and sense of fair-play which has lit up the competition over the last couple of seasons.

Well colour me fucking happy with that. Not easy to win in Sydney and we did it on the back of some strong defense in the final quarter. Julian even scored a try too. Next week is going to be bloody interesting.

Scrappy game, but a good win by the Canes. They would generally fold in games like that, but I did like their defence in that final 20.

Same points at present. Brumbies have the Force at home next week, Tahs are away to the Blues. So probably.
-

Horrible game by Pollock, but good on him for telling Coles to stop being such a dick

Barrett was excellent. The best game I have seem him play for the Canes. He is the complete package now based on this game.

Perenara also has a VG game. As did the whole team.

Eves looks the goods at TH :i_am_so_happy:
-

Barrett controlled the game well at the end.
-

Yep - maybe not the first-up tackling every time, but the scramble was bloody good. Every time the Tahs got through, there were numbers tracking back.

Much better support play fielding kicks for Barrett, too. Options -

Couldn't see the game .

How did Ardie "Wonderboy" Savea go? Surpassed Cane yet?

I haven't seen enough of these two, Savea and Savea, I know - however I have the impression they are really good at galloping down the field all by themselves, viewing what may and may not be achieved through a three metre wide narrow prism populated by no other human beings (other than those to be run over). They are big and strong and such but they are young and I'm not so sure they have been alerted to the quaint notion of going as far as you can then shoveling the ball to someone in a better position, early.

It's a bit difficult to come to terms with these limitations after a decade long steady diet of the craft, guile, wide perspective, anticipation, awareness of where support players are in relation to their path of travel, foresight, reliable hands and clever feet of Conrad Smith, Corey Jane, Ma'a Nonu, Aaron Cruden, Tana Umaga, Piri and so on.

I think these fellas have a way to go yet.
-

Ardie was good at the tackling thing today and added physicality. He's number 2 for All Black specific reasons (you gotta comprehensively out do the incumbent) but he's got all the tools in the box. To paraphrase Austin Powers' Goldmember, He's a keeper

Dear god how can the fricken rugby lawmakers stand around nodding and self congratulating and let plain old fucking luck determine the colour of a fucking card??!!!!

and report back to us stakeholders "yep, that's the best solution to a contesting problem"

fuckwits
-

Good win in the end by the Canes. Not easy to do in Sydney.

Thought the Tahs yellow should have been straight red. I get that they have been ruling these as lands on back = yellow head =Red (which in itself is BS. But this wasn't a miss timed contest. It was an arrive late, see the other guy jumping, carefully line him up and take him out in the air. Deliberate, dangerous foul play and should be red regardless of how he lands.

Thought J Savea had one of his better games for a while bumping off plenty of guys. His taking of the high ball (from that cross kick specifically) is still a worry though.

A Savea probably a bit quieter than usual but at least he didn't get dragged early like Cane did in the chiefs game :fishing: :mocking:

I really struggle to enjoy watching the Tahs play, even when they lose. I think it is mainly because Kearns is usually whining away. I get the sense that even his co commentators get sick of his shit sometimes. I wish there was an option to just listen to the refs mic or alternate comm's rather than having to mute.

Next weekend is going to have a few huge games.
