Great mornings work. Thought we might pip the USA but I think we used up the energy from 1000 to 1500 m. We are bloody good at rowing for a small country.
Yes. NZ has a great record for a country of such a relatively small population.
The worst sporting country by a mile is India. Most populous country in the world and they currently have 3 bronze medals. Get the impression 98% live in abject poverty and 2% have unbridled wealth.
Neither extreme is particularly good for generating sport stars.

Probably because they pour all their resources into cricket

Foxy going well too, four under after thirteen and two off the lead in 3rd. About 70% of the field are under par so the course is either playing easy or the players are all in good touch.
Probably playing easy

@Damo Lisa Carrington a sitter for a couple along with a possible one from Tom Walsh plus the high jumper looking good. Also fingers crossed for Lydia Ko to complete her full set of medals.
I thought you were joking about Lisa, I had no idea she was still going and in Paris!!!

Anyone watch the medal ceremony for the Men's Four? One of the American guys couldn't keep it together while his national anthem was playing. Winning that Olympic Gold Medal means so much to these athletes after four years of hard yakka.
It's been ages since the US won too

Didn't Lisa get beaten in the nationals in one of her disciplines? Does that mean she won't compete in that race?

Think so, didn't Aimee Fisher beat her?

@voodoo She has been going for at least as long as Sophie Pascoe but think Sophie is sitting out these Paralympics.
I think she has hung up her swimming cap altogether hasn't she?
She's pregnant. I thought she said she retired

They’re actually shifting and would beat most recreational park run runners
Still stoopid.
It's the butterfly of athletics.
It is to running what handball is to basketball/football
Nah. Defined sport with defined rules you play as hard as you can. Butterfly and race walking are both events where you're required to race slowly.
Slower of course but ridiculous to say slowly. Its certainly not easier. Ultimately they are in fact operating within defined rules and doing it as hard as they can.
No they're not. They could run or swim properly.
It may not be "proper" but they are still doing it as hard as they can within the rules that are set. It may be a slower version but it certainly isn't easier.

Looks like they will both race the K1 500. Fisher has the WR, so we could have a 1-2 podium

Never said it was easier, just slower and dumber

She seems to have been going forever but is only thirty but there is a good reason why she is taking time out

I'm watching 3 on 3 basketball for the first time. It's still basketball right? In a white men can't jump/ Rucker Park kind of way. American women's team is pretty weak, the only player I recognise is Haley van Lith who plays college basketball. Surely they could pick 3 WNBA players who could excel at this? Maybe the top athletes can't be bothered with it
