Skateboarding is a joke of an Olympic sport. All the medal hopes are about 14, all keep falling off their skateboards. But fun to watch.
My son is an avid skateboarder and he had zero interest in watching it.
If you think that's bad wait for the breakdancing. I shit you not, that is an event.
I thought I’d watch to see what it was like. I was sort of expecting a race with tricks. Instead it looked like teenagers practising in a central city anywhere in the world. And they kept falling off their skateboards.
Breakdancing is already dropped for 2028.
My favourite so far is the mountain bike race. That is a great event. Apparently the Olympic course is built more for speed than technical prowess. Still had a spectacular fall though from the French rider.

Arm wrestling should be in there.
That’s one of my new favourite sports. So technical and brutal.
Why stop there??
Fuck me, look at the synthol in old mates arms !
No wonder he got slapped.

Would agree but not a single competitor would pass a drug test.

Nadal is playing Djokovic in the second round of the Olympic tennis singles, for what might be their last ever encounter. They have played each other 60 times!! (Or this is the 60th, I think the comms said Djokovic is up 30-29. Crazy).
Nadal showed clear signs of rust after an almost 2 year layoff, losing in 2. But the crowd enjoyed seeing two greats playing together one more time

Tom Pidcock produced an outstanding ride to retain the men’s MTB title. He’s only ridden mtb a couple of times this year and is also in with a shout in the road race on the weekend on a course that suits him.
The French crowd were booing him as he finished as he beat a local favourite into second place.
Classy stuff from the hosts.
(Sarcasm alert)

Never watched it before but that was pretty fun to watch. How he recovered so quickly from that flat tyre change disaster was incredible.

Red Conway in 1960.
A softball catcher (he represented Rotorua at that sport in 1956) Dick Conway broke his finger during a game. The finger set very badly and was obviously going to suffer further damage at work, Dick Conway was a carpenter, or play, either softball or rugby. So, to avoid a problem whilst with the All Blacks in South Africa Conway had the finger amputated.
