Fuck cycling is weird ( @WillieTheWaiter )
It's the weird cycling events which are the only ones I'm ever interested in watching... where proper strategy comes into play... the points races in particular, are fun to watch.
In fact - I think I've watched zero olympics this year, except some of the rugby... but all this talk about the nicely weird cycling events, makes me want to watch. -

@act-crusader yes, riders everywhere, some holding hands!
Oh, you watching the Madison.
The riders are required to switch off during the race by means of an exchange. While one member of the team races his partner slowly circles the track above the blue line. When they meet, the racer passes his momentum to his partner via a push or “hand sling” before moving up to the blue line to recover for his/her next effort. Races may be run over a specified number of laps or over a period time. Often, sprints for points are offered as a means of enlivening the action.
That makes butterfly seem logical.

Just for shits and giggles ...

Women's 10,000m about to start. That's a long distance in what apparently are hot and humid conditions. I already start to sweat by the thought of it.
Edited to add that we have a NZ runner in this race: Camille Buscomb. I have to admit I've never heard of her before. I normally don't follow athletics that much; only Olympic athletics.

@stargazer Buscomb was a 1500 m runner who has moved to the longer distances.
I think she’s been running the 5000m for quite a few years before concentrating on the 10K.
The women are dropping like flies in these conditions.

Hard to keep up with it with the lapping of competitors

Yes, since the mid 2010s. I used to see her occasionally out running.

Wow, that was a sprint at the end! Great race from Hassan!
She's won two gold and one bronze. What an athlete!
Seriously, its fucking hot out there. What a fucking legend.
Edit: switch to shot of her puking

Good first half for the Boomers against Slovenia in the bronze medal basketball match. Mills playing the house down and Matisse Thybulle’s athleticism and defence has been excellent.
Luka quietly (but mouthy) working into the game. For Slovenia to even get to this point has been amazing in and of itself.
