You’d kind of feel like an imposter as cox wouldn’t you? These 8 people in front of you destroy themselves while all you do is shout at them. Then you pick up a medal and get to stand there like you actually did jack shit. You could even put “Olympic Gold Medalist in rowing” on your CV and hope nobody asks for further details.

One of the highlights of the day was when Tatjana Schoenmaker won the 200m breaststroke. She won the race and was facing the end of the pool trying to get her breath and somewhat emotional. Then after a few moments she turns around and the emotion of the win was setting in. She finally looks up to the big screen to see she had broken the world record and the reaction is priceless.
The reaction of her two American competitors that claimed the silver and bronze as they came to congratulate her and the fact that they looked equally happy for Schoenmaker’s performance was great.

That is the Olympic spirit right there

Nyika into the SF so guaranteed a medal.
How does that work? He could come 4th?
Both losers get a bronze.
Oh there is not a fight for bronze, that's crap.
Think safety

It's compensation for getting beaten up and losing. Always been the way
I donlt think the Olympics is the place for participation awards.
But then again it's got ribbon dancing so what the fuck do I know?
It might be the case with all the fighting sports? Is there 3/4 fights for judo, Taekwondo or karate?
Bronze fights for taekwondo
Anyone trying to smack you in the head in TKD?

You can't have a fight so soon after a boxer has lost. What if they lost by knockout? It would be very dangerous to allow a knocked out boxer to fight again a day or so later.
It has always been the way in boxing competitions.

A solid first up throw from Adams with 18.75 m. In the other group, Wesche has thrown a new PB of 18.65 m with her first throw at the Olympics. She looked chilled.
Both threw worse in their second throws. Only a couple of throwers have made the qualifying mark so they are well placed

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD again!
Great result. I was at school with the son of one of the 1970s gold medal winning team (who sadly died of brain tumour I think)
Where were the black shirts though??!! White is not our colour.
