I thought it was 5 sets like normal tennis! but its over!
Doubles is never 5 sets, only men’s grand slam matches are 5 sets.
Great win. An unexpected medal for sure.

Insert your own small Cox joke
I thought the weightlifter was the first trans?
The cox in the men's 8 is a woman, the cox in the women's 8 is a man. What gives?
Makes for an interesting story for him about how he won silver in women's rowing.

Cue the, why is a man telling women what to do, outrage…
I actually still can’t believe we won silver and gold in the 8’s. Phenomenal effort.

That is an awesome result!
When it comes to under-rated sportspeople - for the Halbergs and stuff - Michael Venus is right up there.
Dominant performance by him, especially.

You’d kind of feel like an imposter as cox wouldn’t you? These 8 people in front of you destroy themselves while all you do is shout at them. Then you pick up a medal and get to stand there like you actually did jack shit. You could even put “Olympic Gold Medalist in rowing” on your CV and hope nobody asks for further details.

One of the highlights of the day was when Tatjana Schoenmaker won the 200m breaststroke. She won the race and was facing the end of the pool trying to get her breath and somewhat emotional. Then after a few moments she turns around and the emotion of the win was setting in. She finally looks up to the big screen to see she had broken the world record and the reaction is priceless.
The reaction of her two American competitors that claimed the silver and bronze as they came to congratulate her and the fact that they looked equally happy for Schoenmaker’s performance was great.
