Half time: it's still half time between NZ and Australia (hockey women).

Scary stuff. Charlton took a hockey ball to the head - got up and carried on like it was nothing.

Black Sticks competing very well - just lacking a little class in the attacking third.

Two great saves from our keeper.

We are struggling to create any attack

Still 0 - 1 to Australia after the 3rd quarter.

I think the Black Sticks can be happy to be only 1 behind.

Full time: Black Sticks women 0 - 1 Australia

Entertaining game. Much better result for the Black Sticks than I expected, but it's still a loss, unfortunately. Hopefully, they still make the Quarter Finals.

Geez, there's a 13-year-old from Canada in the next heat.

Reminds me of the 1974 Comm Games in Chch where a young Canadian won gold and cried into her teddy bear in the medal ceremony. Just googled: no luck. Will Google harder.

I think it might have been Patti Stenhouse?

Sunisa Lee wins gold in the individual all round gymnastics for the USA. She was their best performed member of the team that won the silver earlier in the week

Lee wins gold for U.S. in gymnastics all-around

Sunisa Lee won the women's all-around gymnastics competition in Tokyo, edging out Brazil's Rebeca Andrade to become the fifth straight American woman to claim Olympic gold in the event.

She competes for Russia, not Belarus. So both

Putting aside the question of whether golf should be at the Olympics (I think not), seeing it there highlights a rather bizarre sporting situation where the competitors have “on-field” support and input from a caddy/coach on every move they make.
Either make it a team of two (with both having to be from the same country) or make it an individual sport only with no caddies.
In cycling they remove the outside support of radios to advise tactics. Golf should take a similar move.

@crucial Why they made it individual strokeplay I have no idea. Teams foursomes/fourballs like the Zurich Open would be heaps better. Or a team matchplay.

Just watching the women's 100m....is it typical for the athletes to have to wear bits of paper with their names and numbers?

Probably my memory failing but I don't recall seeing it before (at this level).

Twigg's lead after 1500m is 2.73 seconds. Will it be enough?
