Brooke Donoghue and Hannah Osborne finish second in the SF to advance to the women's double sculls final.
We're they the higher ranked crew? That Romanian crew was way too strong
Remember they swapped out Loe for Osborne so it isn't the WC-winning crew. They are in the final - a new race now.

From Stuff (Clareburt's splits):
Needs to work on his butterfly.
Probably blew his load a bit last night in the heats. But with no semis it’s very difficult to ease off.
Seems ridiculous too that final wasn’t in tonight’s session which is normally the case

Yeah what’s the story about that? Weird watching a final in the morning.

As I said before, it's all to do with having the finals broadcast in the evening for the US market. They must pay the IOC the big money.

I gave up watching their coverage in 2000 as you wouldn't have known any other country was competing in Sydney, much less little old NZ.

@bovidae in fairness given how the Sydney Olympics went they were probably doing kiwis a favour.. .
Yeah. I would have liked to have seen Waddell's race and only did years later when it showed up on YT.

Fair enough. Seems stupid then that the Australians (and perhaps other nations) didn’t keep to the same schedule during their trials.

Surely the European market would be bigger with more countries involved obviously don’t agree to ‘pay’ the IOC

Great win for the Black Sticks.
Full time: NZL 3 - 0 Argentina.
Good start to the campaign. Who had the higher rank going in?

Argentina were ranked 2, I'm pretty sure we're not first!
