A Ugandan weightlifter who went missing on Friday, after he did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, has been found in a town about 100 miles away from his training camp.
Julius Ssekitoleko, 20, was scheduled to fly home to Uganda last Tuesday, but he went missing from his hotel room in the Osaka prefecture of Japan on Friday, when he was scheduled for a daily COVID test. He left a note at the time, saying he wished to stay in Japan and work. Police had since been searching for him.

Cardboard beds are "anti sex"
Four or five years ago, at Her Most Gracious Majesty's Once-Owned-an-Empire Games, held at the Gold Coast, the first item the athlete's village suppliers ran short of was condoms.
I also heard half a dozen accounts from credible mates of security guards passing the time by bonking each other - blokes, all from up north and across a bit to the left just past Malaysia. One of them walked in on two of 'em giving each other a pleasurable tug. Aaaarrrggghhh!

Brisbane gets Olympics and this proud Brisbanite says FFS. What a joke. Did no one else want it this year?

Quite a change from the heights of the Samaranch era, when the city that wanted it had to stump up with big time coin. Qatar and other countries like it not in an Olympic mood?

I am reminded of Steven Bradbury.
7 News just boasted Brisbane got 75 out of 77 votes. They were the only ones left in it FFS 🤣

Imagine bragging that two people faced with no alternative still didn't vote for Brisbane.

Happens at every Olympics, but usually it’s after the games have actually started….

If not for the note I'd have guessed he was still stuffing his face with the great food in Dotonbori!

Surprised they found him so quickly to be honest.
So easy to blend in.

The other bids were very halfarsed. Germany’s involved 13 cities in the North-West.

Congratulations to Brisbane. I am sure you'll do a great job.
I’m sure they’ll let the world and their Olympic teams in with open arms, but manage to keep people from NSW and Victoria out because of one case of COVID-32

The university I work at here in Japan was chosen as one of the first workplaces in the country to give vaccines to students and staff with great fanfare from the govt. in the media starting on June 21st. After much fluffing about, we received an e-mail today saying the whole program is canceled before one vaccine is given and a message that said, "Please get a vaccine from your local government!" (Yeah, right, we are talking about next year at the earliest) I honestly cannot believe the incompetence on display. It is Benny Hill on steroids.
Fuck the Olympics!
All foreigners including permanent residents are banned from entering Japan even if they are married to a Japanese, have kids, a job etc. It is a fucking tragedy for a lot of people. I have students who can't get into the country and are studying online just waiting for permission to enter.
VIPs and athletes are streaming into Japan as we speak. Bach the fluffybunny came into the country last week waving to people from his car like he was the fucking Queen.
Fuck the Olympics and all it stands for!Well you’ll be happy to know that the exalted premier of Qld Pallachook will be there. According to her it would be a “disaster” if she wasn’t. Must be words of comfort for those with family who are barred from entering. I’m hoping Brisbane doesn’t win the games. Not because of Pallachook but it would be hilarious if Brisbane didn’t win despite her essential presence.
I'd like the current government to personally take on the liability for the massive debt Qld will incur for this ridiculous vanity project. bet they wouldn't be so blasé about spending public money on white elephants then.
Just hope there's plenty of infrastructure to design and build between now and booboo's retirement.

@act-crusader Looking forward to 11 years of "London/Sydney ready to host the games again if Brisbane pull out" headlines.
