Yes.The streak mostly consists sides that now play in Rugby Europe conference 1 or 2. The ladder is as follows:
Six Nations
RE championship (Georgia, Romania..) 6 teams total
RE trophy (Poland, Ukraine, Moldova..) 6 teams total
Conference 1(2pools 5 teams each)
Conf 2 (2 pools, 5 each)
So they won the majority of their games against sides that are 4 steps down from Six Nations, then won against Slovenia, who at the time might have been higher than conf 2 and lost to Latvia who now sit at conf 1.
The system changed for this season, so the divisions were different, but the level of opposition still sucks. -
Comparing the abs to Cyprus is absolutely farking ridiculous. It's like comparing the record of a Super Rugby team with a lower division pub team.
That record was established against teams tier 1 nations would beat with only 10 men.
I can't believe anyone believes there is any basis for comparison.

In this case it's like comparing the innings batting record in test cricket with the 1,000 odd runs scored by that school kid in India. A distinction has to be made between the elite level and a level that is, quite frankly, a complete joke.

While there isn't really any 'divisions' clearly there are a number of them in the irb.
My sons team went about 35 games without a loss in 2012-2014....I mean they are tier 99 or so and were U8 so would that still count?

Yes - and people do. I daresay that if you look in the Guinness Book of Records you'll see Highest First Class Score - Brian Lara 501. Highest test score - I think it's Hayden isn't it?
But, the highest individual score ever made will be the Indian kid and good for him.

Should that record then be given the same level of respect and merit as some of the genuinely incredible achievements in the book?
As I said, a distinction has to be made and a distinction has been made. To say NZ has to beat Cyprus to have the record is nonsense.

In exactly the same way that Matt Hayden can't claim the highest ever score in cricket, because an Indian kid scored a thousand against some primary school kids.
I fully understand your point - which is why they have created the "Most consecutive victories by Tier 1 countries" and "highest ever score in test cricket".

TR - I'm not keen to perpetuate the conversation, but - whichever NZ province has won the most consecutive matches against other NZ provinces holds the record for consecutive provincial victories.
It's probably Auckland in which case everyone will be sort of happy - but, if it's Whanganui (with or without an "h") in the Heartland Championship, then Whanganui it is.
