RIP 2025

Peter Brown gone to join his younger brother.

I had the pleasure of attending a lunch where Gordon was one of the speakers, as is well known he was a very engaging speaker but one story he told about his brother shone out.
It was at a time when selection for Scotland was a revolving door and you would only know on the Thursday if you were playing or not, you were notified by telephone call. Gordon waiting anxiously by the telephone which rings; it's not the selectors but his brother Peter. "Great news! I'm in". "Fantastic, who have they dropped"?
"You".
Hangs up.

In my dreams I walk with you..........
RIP
This one hit me hard.
Mulholland Drive is on my Mount Rushmore.
Mullholland Drive is on my opposite of Mount Rushmore. But I love Twin Peaks, The Elephant Man, and Blue Velvet.
His filmography is much smaller than I would have thought.
I have a mate who did his PhD on Twin Peaks, he'll be devastated, I'll leave it until tomorrow to see how he is.
RIP

Wow, dumbarse here. I had no idea he directed that.
Crikey that is an emotional film. Anthony Hopkins ( slightly nicer character than Hannibal Lecter ) and John Hurt were amazing in that. Brilliant film.

Two years earlier he had done the surreal nightmare that is Eraserhead.....
His range was just insane.

um, he did a great deal of things other than films. He really was creative across a great range of media.

Football legend Denis Law.

Football legend Denis Law.
Never heard of this guy and sky news is wall to wall with him.
Doesn’t mean he’s not a legend @Bones, you should try and watch more sport.
( yeah, I’ve never heard of him either )
-
@Bones He was Sky's main football pundit in the early 1990s. Only Scot to win the Ballon D'Or. Part of Manchester United's Holy Trinity in the 1960s alongside George Best and Bobby Charlton.
Most importantly perhaps he set up the Denis Law Trust that offers free sporting activities to youngsters and tries to keep them out of trouble: https://www.denislawlegacytrust.org/denis-law-legacy-trust
Probably the most likeable and intelligent British footballer. A legend.
