And of course I'm not letting this go, nobody else has, and it's Friday, my motivation to work is low, so starting meaningless fights on the Fern is the best way to pass the time

i'll admit i always considered beating the them all at their home grounds as being part of a Grand Slam
Of course you never played tests in neutral venues before the RWC era. Times change

Im not impressed, from an Allblack perspective, with DMAC and Beaudy playing 15 instead of 10.
It is a bit weird isn't it?
Much as though the thought of David Havili at 10 filled me with horror, I did like the way Robertson and the Crusaders worked together to see how he went at 10 at SR level.

Yes, you are correct - the continued success/Brand of ABs/NZR requires success. Ideally at a world cup level.
Just a thought. The All Blacks built the brand off 92 years of dour amateurism, a bare 70% winning record (I'll check exact numbers later), and being worse than South Africa, compounded by a 24 year gap between World Cups.
A game or two per year in neutral territory is not destroying the brand.

Takeaways after 2 rounds of Super.

Ardies vanity project in Moana is a complete waste of time. They have shipped 100 points in 2 games.
Could be good for him to face more adversity than usual and have to get into the muck more trying to stop teams from running away from MP - they can still turn it on in attack. He was average in black last year so this change might get him back to his top form.
Probably doesn't matter too much that DMac is playing 15 while the regular 15s are out, he's still leading the team.

It's not a make or break thing but probably worth noting......
I wasn't seriously considering going to watch the Chicago match but thought I would check out the tickets on the off chance they were reasonably priced....... The tickets are all upwards of $250 USD and they are virtually all resale tickets, bought by someone who won't go but just wanted to resell it.....
It really is a joke that ticketing is handled in this fashion and that if you do want to go that you end up having to pay a premium to middle man.
I know this is not pertinent to the All blacks playing side of things but it's just so annoying in this day and age how tickets for big events and gigs and sports matches are hard to come by at a reasonable price......
I looked at going to some Copa America (football) matches last summer but the prices were rip offs and so watched from home..... Many of the stadiums were half empty.
Edit - Btw, I'm not saying this from a woe is me pov, just commenting generally about how live sport nowadays really is so massively overpriced and ticketing procedures are unfair to the genuine fan. Average people who want to attend just get rinsed.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but a 6 nations grand slam includes winning games at home. Just saying.

The original rugby Grand Slam is home and away, so there is that

Fabian Holland, if fit, is a near certainty to be added to the AB squad.
Barrett, Vaa'i, Lord, Tuipulotu, Holland (and an injured Darry) isn't a bad crop of options.
The captain would be lucky to make the bench in that crop currently...

The scorelines in Super Rugby are absolutely ridiculous.
70 points plus per game.
Not sure how well this serves us or the Aussies in preparing for test footy.
As we saw last year, those performing in SR are among the best players in TR.

Fair point, but also counter to your fear of super rugby not preparing us...

I wonder if the season progresses and we see a whole lot of young lads out perform long-time ABs whether Robertson will be brave and end some careers, or whether he will give them another season pushing the form is temporary, class is permenant they are proven performers blah blah.

No.
Havili and Blackadder in particular need all the opportunity and time to get back into form. I don't want any young pretenders usurping them.
