British and Irish Lions tour New Zealand 2029
-
If this happens it will be a big nail in fanboing, rather than just supporting, the ABs for me. I've never managed to get a ticket to a Lions test, if they are playing one in the USA it's a really big fuck you to NZ Rugby supporters. Once every 12 years, and one game is in USA, get fucked. Hopefully just one of those 'exploring' options things.
-
havent they done games before, like Argentina?
edit, the 2021 tour started against Japan
2013 against the baa baa's in hong kong
2005 had a game against argentina
so basically pretty common
-
yeh it's not taking a test away from NZ

That would suck big time if that happened, what a good way to alienate your home fan base.

OH!.....i misunderstood.....playing the AB's in america?...yeah, thats not how it works
-
@Kiwiwomble not how I read it....
"In 2013, en route to Australia, the Lions faced the Barbarians in Hong Kong and it is understood that the purpose of any potential USA fixture in 2029 would be similar, breaking up a long journey in a sensible geographic location, rather than relocating one of the three tests against the All Blacks."

Yeah, I assume it could be an ABXV or MABs game but not one of the tests. It should be the USA, but if not it may be that they just don't see the value of playing the USA side (too weak?)

Lions tours have always kicked off with games against lesser nations. For decades it was Australia
and next year they are playing the whole tour against Tier 2, which i think is incredibly progressive.
-
fuck me! i just saw the ticket prices for next year. Absolutely not.
-
@mariner4life i didn;t even get as far as checking the price, going to be a blow out
-
i had to look because they are great events. But no way am i spending that to watch the Lions ritually disembowel the Wallabies.

care to share pricing summary (aside from 'OMFG wut')
-
i first looked at melbourne (MCG)
150 for top tier at the end. $500 for a half decent view. And that was Silver
Suncorp was $550 for all but single tickets in the worst spot
