Lost to Argentina at home.
That's the kicker. Take that out and it's damn near acceptable to date.

to answer the initial question
i think it is far more likely that we go 3-2 than 2-3 on this tour.
wait, our last two European tours have been a bit shit
2022 we went 3-1-0, just beat Japan, smashed Wales, just beat Scotland, then drew with England
2021 we went 3-2, hammering US, Wales and Italy, but losing to Ireland and France.
Without our usual ritual disembowelment of Wales, it's a lot harder.
so yeah fuck knows. unbeaten and i would call the year a success. 4-1 i give the year a pass mark. 3-2 is substandard. 2-3 a shitshow. 1-4 a fucking disaster of national proportions.

nah, losing that first test to South Africa is a real blemish. We had that game won on more than one occasion and should have been good enough to put it away. And even test 2 we were 13-12 with one Bok in the bin and we failed to score again. it's not the results, it's the manner of them that grates.

glass half empty mate, I think the way we played to get into that winning position was well above expectations.

It’s a great time for rugby union IMHO
Plenty of teams can beat plenty of teams on the day
I think the ABs will beat Japan, England and Italy and lose to both Ireland and France
But in this topsy turvy season the opposite could also happen
It’s all about the 23 selected and how they interpret and react to the differing officiating teams
-
One win against England, Ireland or France would be acceptable as long as we are making progress on maintaining focus and re-learning to tough things out. Progress more than just results at this stage for me.
Three losses and/or a close result against Italy or Japan will be seriously disappointing..

Lose another loosie to injury and we might well improve our chances.
Injury's been the best selector so far this season.

We have uncovered a lot of new players this year. 2/3 will be a good result.
I think another big improvement has been players live Vaa'i who've come into the team in the last few years maturing,

Especially if all the proposed rule changes are introduced, I'm sure we will see red cards, what will be interesting will also be how the new proposals potentially impact the outcome of the game given so many opinions on them

As just one example, half the Fern has been calling for Ardie Savea to be dropped. But, he's the reigning World Player of the Year. Wouldn't it be a lot more sensible to back him, coach him where he's been making errors and expect that he'll come right?
It would be sensible, but do this lot have that ability?
I would have thought Razor would have before this year but his feet seem stuck in cement, and Tubby Ryan is probably too busy getting his dong sucked by Shannon while throwing axes at Blues marketing posters, to be effective at anything.
Jeez, the imagery....

No, getting dominated in the final 20 of nearly every single test is a big red flag that the game plan is not suited to test footy. The last 20 minutes is where tests are won and lost, as we found out over and over again.
I can't ever remember an AB team that has been so poor in the final quarter. The good teams always finish the strongest, often after weathering a storm. We are not a good team right now.

@gt12 said in Poll: AB wins on EOYT for a decent season:
For starters, we should expect us to win.
However, if we do lose, and one may be acceptable, it will matter how we play and whether we can put teams under pressure across the game, especially in the last 20.
If we lose three games, I think there is a very good argument for us to get a new coach. Jamie Joseph is in New Zealand, Cotter is here, so we could probably build a far more (internationally) experienced team.
If we lose all 3, that would be unacceptable and Razor’s job should be under threat.
His biggest get out of jail card is that he is the CEO’s pick. So he would get another year to prove he can improve on 2024.
We need to win 2 of these games at a minimum. We can’t lose to France again. Would that be 3 or 4 in a row if we do. The All Blacks don’t let that happen

Think about the tight 5 and the replacements that Fozzie had in his first year.
Now think about the tight 5 Razor has at his disposal (no Whitelock granted) in his first year. And the back ups.
It’s a hell of a platform to build a team around.

And if you then start dropping players and sacking coaches because of these delusional expectations you'll rapidly go into a downward spiral where you're trawling Heartland rugby for All Blacks, because everyone at the higher level is a proven failure!
The slipperiest of slopes as used to justify poor coaching and selection.
Equally hopeless is analysis that says - we lost - the coaches are fucking useless. This player made a mistake, we must drop him.
As just one example, half the Fern has been calling for Ardie Savea to be dropped. But, he's the reigning World Player of the Year. Wouldn't it be a lot more sensible to back him, coach him where he's been making errors and expect that he'll come right? Because the standard you're aspiring to is winning the WPotY - it seems to me that Ardie is the most likely to reach that standard - since he's proven he can do it - no matter how promising Sititi or Sotutu might look.
valid. ish.
The flip side is, how long do you put up with ignoring rucks, soft tackles and a misfiring run game in the hope that it all comes right? Especially when your reason is an individual award that most don't agree with most years?
You can never call for a player to get dropped after one down game. Very few players are up every single test. When a season long pattern emerges however, exactly how long are you supposed to hold on hoping for a reversal?
Yes - at some point everyone reaches the end. But, I don't think Ardie's showing diminished physical attributes in terms of speed and strength - so it's likely form, which should be able to be coached.
On the other hand, we've got Sammy Cane, who they're probably squeezing the last drops out of the lemon - but, given the sudden loosie injury crisis, I'm quite pleased they've persisted with him. But, the end of this year will be far enough, I think.
Ardie is catnip to the Instagram reel and Youtube short generation.
His highlight reel is superb.
But these days himself and Beaudy are all icing and no cake.
Ardie can rediscover it, he just needs to ditch the superman cape and get back to bread and butter industriousness.
Beaudy is toast.

The current coaching ticket are vibes guys. Coaching on feels.
There seems (from my barstool) to be a lack of ruthlessness in the camp, parting ways with Leon aside.
If I hear Jase Ryan saying how much he "cares" again and how everything gets sorted over a peppermint tea in his room im going to punch walls.
Give me Jerry Collins smoking fags on his balcony over this shower of shrinking violets.
Get out there and start rekking kuntz .
You made it to the allblacks. Now show us you deserve to stay.

To be fair Razor / Ryan has built up the propping depth and Taylor is playing consistently better (but that may a coincidence) and they have also developed or further developed a promising lock or two.
It is in the loose forwards where there is a Jurassic meets Benny Hill situation.
