Scott Robertson was rightly hyped as the best coach in the fricken world
Rightly hyped as the best coach in the world despite never coaching test rugby and never coaching club rugby in Europe?
What?

People losing their minds with Razor. Let's have a look at how Rassie Erasmus (arguably the best coach in the world) went in his first eight tests after taking over as Springboks Head Coach in 2018:
v Wales (N) - LOST 22-20
v England (H) - WON 42-39
v England (H) - WON 23-12
v England (H) - LOST 25-10
v Argentina (H) - WON 34-21
v Argentina (A) - LOST 32-19
v Australia (A) - LOST 23-18
v New Zealand (A) - WON 36-34So in other words, a fairly similar start to what Razor had. It takes a coach time to adapt, and to work out the best players to carry out his systems. Like any coach, he'll need to adapt, but if Razor can't make it work, then the idea that a Vern Cotter coached team with a loose forward trio of Ioane, Papalii and Sotutu would dominate is just silly.
We've been the better side for more or less 75% of each of the eight tests we have played so far. When he works out his bench, we'll convert these tests. I would not be surprised to see them work out, and for us to end the year with six more wins.

Rassie took over when the Boks were at their lowest nadir with Coetzee.
Robertson got a side where the bulk of the players were a whisker away from winning and RWC.
And from that team you've taken out:
Retallick and Whitelock (An all-time great locking pairing and 2x 100+ Cappers)
Frizell (Starting blindside)
Smith (An all-time great halfback and 100+ Capper)
Mo'unga (Starting First Five, Clearly Razor's preferred option and 50+ Capper)This is quite a different side.

The Blues players and the Blues coaches!
There's no point discussing if you are going to be dishonset. That is not what I said and it is not what I want

Maybe get grey-hairs like Vern Cotter working with Robertson on a more day-day basis.
Cotter replacing Ryan as a selector would have a massive positive impact. If the pressure builds I'm sure Robertson will throw another assistant under the bus to keep his job
This is dishonest. You think Robertson threw Mcdonald under the bus to keep his job?

I didn't say his job was under threat when LM was pushed out. It might be if the EOYT goes bad.

No they're not, they're just judging him to a standard we judge AB coaches, and you as his marketing manager can't handle that.
Who cares what Rassie did in 2018, it's irrelevant, we're judging a coach on his results this year, and those results include our first loss in the RC in 4 years.

@reprobate said in If we win Bled 2, are you happy heading into the end of year tour?:
Judging on the results is one thing, but the accusations of bias are a bit over the top. Our starting side is hardly crusader heavy.
Criticism for the bench and the selections for this test are thoroughly justified. The squad too, to an extent. His selections have been questioned outside of franchise bias, so it's not just that. Fihaki's rapid elevation is probably the only area that's really been a WTF moment in that area.
-
@reprobate said in If we win Bled 2, are you happy heading into the end of year tour?:
@Nepia agreed, some poor decisions for sure. But there have been a shitload of accusations of bias.
Every coach gets that, Fozzie got it over Chiefs players he'd never coached before.

@Duluth said in If we win Bled 2, are you happy heading into the end of year tour?:
Ryan has shown his bias since the first AB XV selection he made. The players are talking about it
I believe very strongly that Hoskins should have been picked. Outside of that, who are you talking about? I don't really see anyone else compelling who would contend for a starting spot.

To be fair, core and legendary players retired after the RWC, arguably the top AB coach left (I think it was Schmidt*, others can argue it was Foster), and the RWC was the high point of Foster's time, the overall period was not that impressive at all.
*Australia may be 10th officially, but he has installed belief and potential in a very young squad whose confidence is likely to have been obliterated by Fast Eddie.

Akira Ioane. If a coach can pick players who are retiring, they can also pick players before they go overseas.

There's also the argument that if they wanted Akira Ioane he wouldn't be going overseas at all....

Not going there. I think that as well, but don't have the evidence. I do think he would have been better at 6 than Finau and most of the others.
