One bench approach would be to go with a halfback like Fakatava, combined with Williams, Tosi, Aumua and whatever other close ball runners we have. Just go a very direct narrow game.
That is Why Hotham is there as he runs close in around the ruck quite often.

I'd really like to see them develop our halfbacks against the Wallabies. E.G. Ratima starting with Hotham on the bench. TJP is leaving, there is no value in continuing to give him gametime at this stage given he's no Aaron Smith.

Yeah but he has “experience”
( even if said experience is not being as good as Aaron Smith )
-
He's also not helping us getting over the line.
No point in having experience if it isn't used appropriately.

Ofa had an excellent season in the scrum for the Blues and I don't believe he was bested this year at test level either.
Tosi gained parity with Ofa in the Blues v Hurricanes game so I think he's a pretty strong scrummager. Strong enough under the current laws which mean less scrum resets.
Tosi could be a real weapon for us off the bench. He's probably the best close in tight five carrier in the squad and he can help set a platform for the others. He's also a good lifter and a good mauler.
It could be a real boost for us having someone of Williams size and Tosi's size for the duration of 80 minutes.
Don't forget he's still developing in that area aswell. He was playing 8 a few years ago and he's come a long way already so he could be a real weapon for the ABs if he can start dominating at scrum time.

Yeah I agree maybe we see that happen this game.

Personally thought TJP was given every chance to show leadership and calmness in his game when asked to close out in South Africa, he didn't. If there was ever a time to send a message (whether short or longer term) , the coaching team could replace him based on that for Australia and not have any blow back.

I'd like to see Tosi come on to the bench for the Wallabies too.
His ball running on the weekend was impressive, even accounting for it being two levels below.

Justin Marshall mentioned on a podcast that we should try Blackadder at 6, Savea at 7 with Sititi at 8 against the Wallabies. I'm not totally against it.
-
@Canes4life whos the 6 though?
I would love to see it but two things that jump out are i think its pretty clear the coaches dont see savea as a 7 option...but also sititi did well at 6 i think....room to improve but good....so better to keep developing there?

Marshall would still keep Blackadder at 6.
I think we can get away with that loose trio against the Wallabies but not sure if it would work against a bigger pack.

Probably would make more sense to play Sititi at 7.

why? has he played there? Seems unfair to me to keep moving a young player around.
Edit: oh, maybe that was just sarcasm. Ok.

Heard some chat that Hotham is in the 23
Which would explain why he wasn't released for Ta$man
At this point, it is probably more worthwhile to give him a run off the bench rather than TJP who is not playing well and is leaving

not a bad saturday. ABs in to Lions on to NRL semi. Little bit of overlap though which is a shitter.
