He's played 45 tests with a win rate of 80% over 3 coaching regimes.
He offers far more leadership and experience than Darry or Lord.
He also offers go forward up the middle which is something we are desperately missing in the tight five and something neither Darry or Lord offer to the same level.

He was good in the first game. He regressed back to his normal level in the second match. He's been the least effective carrier of the four locks who've had proper minutes this year.

Some posters seem to forget we played with 13 men at a key part of the game.
But somebody else needs to give the halftime speeches, DMac should have had a blasting for crap pass no 1 so he didn't go crap pass no 2, same with Ioane, EdG should have been replaced earlier (T Williams still looks solid to me but EdG doesn't look match fit), and for whatever reason Aumua is playing worse and worse.
Glad to see our lineouts were a weapon but surprised they didn't try to have more of them. -

This is just a media tactic. Do you seriously think that a guy who won seven Super Rugby titles in a row can't see what everyone else can. Positive in front facing, honest behind closed doors.
I think there is a bit of acceptance that getting the ABs back to number one is going to be harder than they thought. There is no doubt a few limitations in the playing departments, but I think the big positive is we have started to work out some of them.
Taylor and the props are going well, now just need to nail our backup hooker. Aumua has been disappointing, so I'd like to see them give Bell a go.
Locks are going great, we have found answers in Vaa'i and Darry
Sititi has somewhat answered the blindside flanker problem, the loose trio is looking the best it has all year. Long term I think he will shift to 8, and Lakai and possibly Haig will join the fray, but it is at least looking balanced now.
Ratima going great, but the halves is our main issue. TJP is leaving, but they don't seem to have much faith in Hotham. All the eggs are in the Roigard getting back up to speed quickly basket. McKenzie just isn't quite there. Plummer should get a crack next week.
I think once we sort out a good first five, we'll quickly look really good again. With a dominant first five we control that game and win it easily.
Rest of the backline is going fine, and will improve with the rest of the team. Was good to see Will Jordan play well last night.

If Jordan stays at FB we still need to find a right winger. Reece wasn't great and I blame him for butchering the try as he was far too flat to receive the DMac pass. Telea has also looked below par.

Whoever plays 10 needs to exert some control. We are attacking well but need to manage things more tactically than we are right now. It's early for SB, as others have said about GOAT, he took a while to become the captain we remember

De Groot and Lomax offer nothing in terms of carry go forward.
They've averaged 0.5 metres and 0.4 metres per carry between them. Taylor is only making metres out wide and also offers little up the middle.
Ratima has been up and down.
It doesn't matter who the first five is if the forwards lack the ability to set up a platform through phase play.

Had those three passes from Dmac stuck / been judged ok, I think it would likely be considered his ‘coming of age’ test.
He needs a good kicking for the first one which was just dumb, the second was partly him, partly that’s a fucking hard pass to get right at that speed, and partly his support giving him even less chance for error. The third was just bad luck - he was hit and just couldn’t quite get rid of it. On the overhead angle there wasn’t much in it at all - I wondered whether they would let it stand until we saw the side on.
As a chiefs fan, it feels very much like a game where so much of our attack is dependent on him (and Ratima) that I cant really blame him for the miracle plays that don’t come off. They were the drivers of almost everything that went right.
His clearances, goal kicking, and general passing were good (one pass to WJ excepted) and if he can improve his execution when it counts I think we are in great shape.
My personal feeling is that all of this is happening three years too late, but I’m not concerned that he is the problem. I do feel that he and WJ don’t make an obvious pair - Jordan’s game feels so much better at 14 where he can still make breaks like yesterday or against Ireland. His positioning at times yesterday was criminal, Dmac would be much better with a more assertive actual international fullback. However, hopefully Jordan will grow into it too.

Pretty much every time the Australians were hot on attack in our 22, it just seemed we were going to eventually fold and wave them through.
Fuk yeah. No wonder Macca quit. Starting to think Macca should have been the one in charge. Hansen, Ellison ain't cutting the mustard at this level. Mind you having said that, it appears we dont have the cattle to choose from either. Is this the reason they are hanging onto some; looking at you Ardie, TJ, ALB well past their best. So farking frustrating!
I've been a critic but TJP played bloody well this game - best of bench!

Random thoughts.
All is not well in Razorland. First and foremost, it seems the ABs are not respecting test rugby.- Not taking points when they are on offer. The default position is now to go for the corner regardless of the situation. In the McCaw days, points first and the corner would be taken when the situation demanded it.
- Turning off and letting in soft tries usually up the middle. It seems the ABs have a soft belly.
- Trying fancy slip passes, stupid brainfart passes.
- Not protecting the ball at all costs and losing possession at crucial times.
- Poor exits that put the pressure right back on immediately. Every time there is a 50/50 defensive up and under from the ABs own 22 or they try multiple phases in front of their sticks, I just shake my head in astonishment.
It is a f#%king test match, not super rugby! FFS!
Second, I think it is obvious that Savea is a really good player but poor No.8. He needs to be a bench option or position change. Darry and Aumua are stinking up the impact role. Be bold in selections Razor!
Third, the rugby gods are angry at the ABs. TMOs are inventing ghost knock ons, tries are "held up", Aussie props are not taking the weight- not contesting, basically lady luck has deserted the ABs. They need to sacrifice something at the altar of the rugby gods.

Some mention of players not being in their optimal positions and that is 100% correct. We have a fullback playing flyhalf, a winger playing centre, another winger playing fullback and a flanker playing no. 8.
