Surprised to see a bunch of people Cane. I thought he was useless today. Missed tackles, gave away an idiotic penalty, guilty of ruck watching, zero link play and did he even attempt a jackal?
He’s a terrible 7 these days
Spot the bloke who has never played
-
Taylor, cane and lomax.
I'm not even mad for that lomax card, he should have been given a rest, and why were we in that spot, another backline fuck up.
Vaai Williams and sititi can sit back and say they did their job too

Um ok bro

Taylor, Vai'i and Cane. Bubbling under Lomax, Williams.
I see Sititi getting a lot of love, I didn't see him as outstanding in my watch, really good with the ball in hand but I didn't notice him too much outside of that - but not saying he wasn't good "on both sides of the ball" just I didn't focus enough on it.
First time I've voted for a while as I could actually pick three pretty easily.
-
Taylor, Cane and Va'ai for me. Lomax worth a mention aswell.

I’ve been given some grief for this take. So I went full anti-Fern and rewatched the game just now
I’m genuinely baffled by the thought that anyone thinks Cane played well - he didn’t carry at all , he had one decent/ dubious turnover, zero dominant tackles - I really don’t know what value he added
If that’s the standard for an AB 7 today, then we can stop debating the merits of the coach or anyone else out there
-
I must admit I am waiting for the next MJ.
A fast 7 would be Xmas. -

He carried 5 times for 6m
Yes the turnover was a good one
Can you point me to these dominant tackles rather than a childish "lol"?
I'm not trying to be a dick here - I went back to rewatch his game last night because a bunch of people here said he played well. I tracked just Cane, watched his every engagement.
I genuinely cannot see what you saw.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Cane. Seems like a good guy. I was apoplectic when we dropped him for the SF in 2019. But I think he's a shadow of that player now. Yes he still has a hard shoulder. But that's really it. He doesn't carry (EFFECTIVELY), he doesn't link, he barely gets turnovers, and he has given away a number of poor penalties that the old Cane wouldn't have done.
I'm not even a Paps guy, I don't have an alternative. Heck, I'm not even saying we should drop him. I just can't fathom how that performance got him into the MOTM conversation.

All according to Rugbypass, not sure how accurate:
13 tackles for Cane, 2nd to Savea and Lomax (who didn't play 80) - he is a tackling machine for a prop by the way. Sititi made 7 tackles, the least of the forward pack and even less than Jacobson in his limited minutes. He did lead us in carries. (Ahem, try and play both sides of the ball please Hoskins). Cane's never been a carrying and linking player. He tackles and he hits rucks. He is penalised quite a lot, and is a constant card risk because he hits hard and relatively high.
Our loosies do not get many turnovers - 1 each in this game. S Barrett with 2, and Telea, Ratima, Vaai, Lomax with 1 each too.
Dominant tackles: Reece 2, Lomax 2. 1 each for Jordie, Sititi, ALB. -

I'm not in a position to rewatch the game right now. There's no question he was high visibility during the game making tackles and hitting rucks. I don't think it was a performance for the ages, or without inaccuracies, but when he makes tackles, people don't continue making metres.
