@Dan54 I think it's worthy of a discussion given that TMOs can actually now intervene even after the conversion has been taken.
At the very least it would have been nice to hear the ref say something like "the try has been reviewed and cleared".
Especially after the level of intervention we normally experience!!!

It was clearly a try, the ref put his hand in air and indicated such!
Yes as you say, that's a fair beerfaction.
Hey everyone life is back to normal, Dan agrees with the powers that be.
Yep and as normal some don't want to accept the laws of the game, no problem, I expect I am right though
TMO didn't see a probelm, neither did ref, so not sure why there an argument.Besides all else I not convinced he lost it forward, looked straight down to me .
Wow, you say some shit Dan, but that might top it. He lost it forward and he fell short. The pictures don't lie in this case
My actual point is mate, what we read in papers is all that counts. We can say it no try until we blue in the face, but if the ref says it is (he may of made a mistake,)but it still a try. My point is if the ref says it a try it is officially etc, and we can't or won't change it.. I can't say the ref's word counts when the decisions go in our favour and then moan when they don't.I said the same when living in Aus and Phil Kearns and co were on tv saying ABs shouldn't of won 2011 WC final, ref gave it to us etc etc.
The number of times I have heard/read it from losing supporters is just ridiculous. Why are you on a forum?

this. After the RWC where everything got looked at by the TMO, to go to a situation where a try doesn't ... it's just bizarre.
I saw the word 'inexplicable' used by the Grauniad on this, and I kind of agree. It was deeply weird.

Watching now because I got home a bit munted after the John I Dent final.
Ethan "both sides of the ball" Blackadder couldn't pass to an umarked winger five metres out.
DMac decides to hand back possession from inside our 22 with a useless chip kick to nobody.
Blind ref penalises Ardie one metre from our line for "no clear release" when there's a clear as fuck release which should've been a penalty for holding on.
Blind Irish TMO can't see Mbonambe clearly lose possession over the line.
Cross kick to Clarke and a turnover penalty because South Africans are allowed to place their hands on the ground first.
Cane puts a hard shoulder on South African Black Jesus who coughs up the ball in contact.
Beautiful run by Rieko down the blindside from a scrum, draw and pass to put Jordan into space. Ethan too slow to get there to clean out.
Outstanding attack from turnover ball. DMac and then Lomax dummy to beat rushing defenders and put Clarke in.
Blind clown awards South Africa a scrum penalty despite the tighthead clearly on his knees.
Turnover because "both sides of the ball" can't get there in time to clean out the defender. Has there been a slower loose forward?
And that's the first half. Score should be 3 - 12
Agree with a lot of what you say - but your Blackadder hatred does run deep.....
Ethan was one of my top 3 players today (as have a # of other Ferners going by the MOTM thread)..... cos as you say -- the work on both sides of the ball...
In answer to your slower loose fwds - not trolling... but Frizzel and Ioane were not speed merchants either.... and sure as shit didn't put the consistent work in that Blackadder is showing so far...
You're confusing activity with achievement. Blackadder is energetic, not effective.
no I am not confused, you are only watching Blackadder with with one eye...
Point me to one of the following:
- A covering tackle.
- A dominant tackle.
- An effective cleanout.
- A dominant carry.
Editor notes: consider bold-ing each adjective.

(rugby is a way better sport with chaos).
Had this EXACT thought at some point in the game. First half... can't remember the context exactly. Seattle: legali
szed cannabis. Anyway - it was some fucking fun rugby to watch for a few minutes. -
I'm OK with the TMO not intervening and letting the refs call stand, as long as he isn't intervening on other errors of a similar nature.
Where was that game when Jimmy Cowan, rightly had a try scrubbed, but outside the scope of the TMO at the time.
Many years on and the TMO is still making errors, with more power.

South Africa!
'would you like to know about the forward pass'... when the TMO was limited to 'the act of scoring'
/sigh

Riiiiight
Firstly, super rugby is not test rugby
Secondly, we are picking Jordie for.no other reason than he is a big dumb lump to truck it up.
Riiiight,.
The AB's best back this morning who made De Allende and Kriel his play things?
- Jordie Barrett: Back to his best in another huge all-round display, where he racked up a game-high 91 metres (off a game-high 12 carries), notably thanks to his great 50-metre intercept try a minute into the second half. Had body on the line on both attack and defence (seven tackles without a miss) against vaunted Boksâ midfielders, put boot to ball nicely, did well to tap back long lineout play which led to Clarkeâs second try, while was unlucky not to be rewarded for hit to dislodge ball on charging Mbonambi for hostsâ first try. 9

I'll just leave these right here
He didn't even get it over the line FFS
Being very contrary but consider the complexity of the laws, did
Jordie knock the ball on in the tackle?
Did Mbonambi then ground the ball playing under SA advantage? -

Did Mbonambi then ground the ball playing under SA advantage?I would argue JB was trying to hold him up and he dropped the ball short. Surely the carrier has to accept some responsibility? It is frustrating that the TMO butts their head in routinely, and yet here they were strangely silent. But the ABs clearly didn't know either because even JB didn't protest the call

Those are some of the worst ratings Iâve ever see and thatâs saying something
Jordan a 7 and Rieko only a 6?
Ethan an 8 because he was âphysically imposingâ đđđđ

I am all in favour of technology. When used it usually gets the right decision - a lot more so than when not used. Especially in try scoring when the game has stopped and you have time. Makes no sense when every one can tell from the replay that itâs no try and the ref is still strutting his stuff insisting his first instinct was correct.
The NRL go one step further and each team has a challenge which can be used in general play.

15-5 penalty count?
Your side needs better discipline and game management
Ths is exactly what your supporters said to your team after the 2011 QF against Aus, eh
So just so weâre clear, ok to blame losses on the ref then?
It's not about blaming losses on the ref - there's far more criticism of our braindead player than the ref. But, we are allowed to call out refs making consistently shit big calls against us - just like your coach did when the Lions beat the shit out of your boys.
And Razor should be asking the question about the Bongi try and why the TMO didn't;t intervene - especially given some of the TMO interventions in huge moments that have gone against us in recent times.

Midfield really good. Reiko's best game this year, Jordie playing to the level we need.
Iâve been a bit surprised at some of the post game comments that were critical or didnât acknowledge this because I thought he was superb. He put pressure on the Bok defence time and again. His involvement at attacking rucks was excellent too given the way we were attacking and the Boks defending.
Far more assertive and involved. Was great to see.
Some have harked back to the McCaw era and what is worth pointing out is that during that golden phase of AB success we had some rabbit out of the hat wins at the death similar to what the Boks did last night (reffing aside). And that was an AB side laden with class across the park. The Boks had some class too no doubt. But more often than not the ABs would find a way. Wasnât always the case in the early period of McCawâs reign as captain. It was the Boks that found a way.
We made errors, the Boks did also. The pressure and chaos was all there. But there were some distinct things that were good to see, but plenty to work on for some, which given the scoreline does have some promise.

Did Mbonambi then ground the ball playing under SA advantage? In theory he may have, and letâs say he did, the fact is that itâs never been reffed like that in a tackle. It has been reffed as a knock on from a strip/rip but thatâs not what Jordie did.
