@antipodean went to the hundreds cricket at the oval the other night, at the bottom of the stairs for our entrance was a vending machine with sausage rolls. £5. For a fucking vending machine sausage roll!

I’m sure a vending machine sausage roll tastes as good as it sounds and is worth the price.

    Fuck you love cricket eh.

The hot dogs on sticks at the basin are always sensational

Never been much of a fan of steinlager myself, seems to me there are better NZ beer options esp in Wgtn.

    Biggest understatement in fern history.

The waffle dogs at Athletic Park were always one of the highlights of a trip to the rugby as a kid

Only other time I've been to the oval I think the BCs lost b6 DW, or it was rained off. So disagree!

Does anyone ever make a decision to go to a game based on the beer and food on offer?

When we used to have big crowds all you could get was a hot dog and some shit beer from your region (Lion Red, DB etc).

I’m not sure it’s the quality ( ie the chips/pies are as stodgy and shit as they were in the 80s/90s and the beer is limited ) I think it’s the price. I could be wrong but it seems to be much more expensive relatively speaking.

Prices are high everywhere aren't they and ground food was always expensive relative to the rest of the world?

Easiest thing to do, have a drink before the game, take some biltong in your pocket to eat during the game.

Jeez these young Sky Sport comms birds are dreadful. When you include Wheeler and Dagg it really is a cringe fest listening to some of these idiots pre match.

Izzy Dagg is looking extremely well fed since retirement

But yeah, the All Black wank fest with some gratuitous “credit” to Argentina is as you say, cringy.

@Canes4life I'm not reading all that blah when it's completely not true that most people who attend matches in Welly are bureaucrats. That's absolute garbage.

Nah fair call, but a few of them are and that’s what I’m trying to get at. A lot of people in general can’t afford two tests in a year so it’s about picking and choosing and most would pick an Aussie test over an Argie test any day. I’m not surprised at the poor crowd numbers at all.

Wheeler and Dagg make me worried that educational standards in New Zealand have fallen through the floor.

That's what you get from over priced private schools. 😉

@Bones well more than other places obviously. The job market in Welly is still different to most places as the govnt is based here hence more bureaucrats/govnt workers heading to the footy.

@Canes4life I worked for WCC. I don't think the job market has changed that much in the last decade.

Why are so many people dressed in yellow? They look like seats on the footage.

@Bones well I know a lot of people have lost jobs here because they work for government and that goes back to my original point, that it could be a reason for low ticket sales. Anyway I’m too many beers deep to worry about this anymore. Looks to be plenty of yellow seats at the Tin.
