@Daffy-Jaffy he might be at the Canes for a year though which I don't mind if he's a talent.

@Canes4life What about Fehi Fineanganofo? He seems an explosive player. Was he in the Sevens under Laidlaw?

Just announced, nice pick-up. He has signed for two years. He can cover midfield and wing which is great.

    Anyone know much about him?

The NZ Sevens team are losing some of their youth.

Fineanganofo was a centre at Auckland Grammar. Ex NZ Schools.

I must admit I don't watch nearly as much 7s as I use to - but interested to hear thoughts from those that do. Seems a solid unit?

22y/o 105kg has always impressed me in the sevens. Similar style to Timoci Tavatavanawai but faster I think. He scores two good tries for the Bay here from 6:45mins -

I reckon if he dropped a few kegs and became even more explosive he could be a real weapon in the midfield. Good to have a player like that in the side who can cover multiple positions. Plenty of pace for a big fella.

Fineanganofo is the third new signing who will likely wear the No 11 or No 14 jerseys, joining two other NPC standouts in Kade Banks (North Harbour) and Tjay Clarke (Wellington). Clarke can also play fullback.

“Fehi and the coaches are looking forward to having a strong pre-season together,” Laidlaw said.

“We know he had a few options out there, and we’re super grateful he chose to join us.

“Both his sevens and the way he’s played for Bay of Plenty really excites us. He’s a power athlete who can play in the midfield as well as on the wing.”

The full squad will be announced on November 12.

I'm picking our first choice backline to look something similar to the below for next year:
    9. Roigard
    10. Perofeta/Godfrey
    11. Naholo
    12. Higgins
    13. Proctor
    14. Banks
    15. Love

Second choice backline would look something like the below:
    9. Vijoen
    10. Godfrey/Harkin
    11. Punivai / Fineanganofo
    12. Umaga-Jensen
    13. Sullivan
    14. Sinkinson
    15. Clarke

From the same Manawatū Standard article.

    The Post

Flyn Yates will be in the Hurricanes wider training group while loosehead Joseph Gavigan will cover for their All Blacks in Europe. He has been muscling up with big workouts in his Pahīatua woolshed.

Young hooker Raymond Tuputupu was already contracted, and the Hurricanes have found room for fellow hooker Vernon Bason.

Manawatū’s other Hurricanes are No 8 Brayden Iose and lock Josh Taula while flanker TK Howden is off to the Highlanders for game time. Iose recently had a cleanup operation on a knee that would have ruled him out of the All Blacks XV.

Four Manawatū players have picked up national development contracts and will be with the Hurricanes from pre-season. They are Logan Wallace, loose forward Mosese Bason, halfback Jai Tamati and first five-eighth Liam O’Connor, all in their second year in the Manawatū academy.

@Bovidae sounds like the Canes have signed four hookers then. Unless both Devery and O'Reilly have been released.

The Josh Taula signing is a massive dud, he couldn't even crack the Manawatu 23 in the NPC this year.

At least we now know McClutchie won’t be at the Canes next year.

Confirmed, no Perofeta at the Hurricanes.

But a 'Hurricanes legend' (very much not my words) has been signed alongside Cashmore to cover 10 (and it's not someone anyone here will be happy to see return).

    Hopefully it is James Blackwell

I just saw returning legend. Was hopeful. Can't see too many names that'll pop out as 10 cover from the last five or so years
