Hurricanes 2025

I wonder why only for 2025, you’d think he’d push for longer.
Good signing, he can also play wing and is only 22.
Now we just need to lock in Callum Harkin.

Yea Harkin is the next must sign, and it'd be nice to have the Perofeta signing confirmed officially too. Would be disappointing if that didn't turn out to be true.
If we had all of Perofeta, Harkin, Love and Godfrey as 10 options I’d be pretty stoked with that.

With the Super squad announcements apparently taking place next week, the Canes squad pretty much looks like the below at this stage, rumours included.
Props: Mafileo, Tosi, Lomax, Numia, Rakete-Stones, Lauaki
Hookers: Aumua, Devery/Tuputupu/O'Reilly/Bason
Locks: Gallagher, Walker-Leawere, Delany, Allen, Tucker/Plummer
Loose forwards: Lakai, Flanders, Iose, Kirifi, Shields, Tuifua
Halfbacks: Roigard, Vijoen, Enari
First Fives: Perofeta, Godfrey
Midfielders: Higgins, Proctor, Umaga-Jensen
Utility: Sullivan, Fineanganofo, Punivai
Outside Backs: Love, Naholo, Banks, Clarke, SinkinsonIf the above squad is accurate, we still need to sign 2 hookers, 1 loose forward and 1 first five.
Tuputupu, Devery and O’Reilly are the front runners for the remaining two hooking spots.
Cooper Flanders could get that last loose forward spot as he can play 7/8 and had a pretty handy NPC, other options could be Ropeti but I think the Canes need a third 7.
Not sure where the 5th midfielder will come from. Thought it may have been Kyle Brown from the Manawatu but he’s just signed for the MLR.
I’ve got my fingers crossed Callum Harkin gets that 3rd 10 jersey.

@Canes4life I thought the Perofeta rumors had been quashed?
-
@Canes4life There are options at 7 outside of the Hurricanes region, e.g., Brash, Loft.

Nope, some people on here think it’s a done deal, others don’t so will find out next week.

Could be anyone really, will be interesting to see who they select.

Sounds like the Canes have signed one of Laidlaw's former sevens prodiges.
I hope it's Roderick Solo or Moses Leo. I've got Punivai as an outside back but he can also play in the midfield so he may already be the fifth option there which will open up another outside back spot.

-
@Daffy-Jaffy he might be at the Canes for a year though which I don't mind if he's a talent.
-
@Canes4life What about Fehi Fineanganofo? He seems an explosive player. Was he in the Sevens under Laidlaw?

Fehi Fineanganofo
Just announced, nice pick-up. He has signed for two years. He can cover midfield and wing which is great.
Anyone know much about him?

22y/o 105kg has always impressed me in the sevens. Similar style to Timoci Tavatavanawai but faster I think. He scores two good tries for the Bay here from 6:45mins -
-
I reckon if he dropped a few kegs and became even more explosive he could be a real weapon in the midfield. Good to have a player like that in the side who can cover multiple positions. Plenty of pace for a big fella.

Official from the Canes:
-
Fineanganofo is the third new signing who will likely wear the No 11 or No 14 jerseys, joining two other NPC standouts in Kade Banks (North Harbour) and Tjay Clarke (Wellington). Clarke can also play fullback.
“Fehi and the coaches are looking forward to having a strong pre-season together,” Laidlaw said.
“We know he had a few options out there, and we’re super grateful he chose to join us.
“Both his sevens and the way he’s played for Bay of Plenty really excites us. He’s a power athlete who can play in the midfield as well as on the wing.”
The full squad will be announced on November 12.
