Canes vs Lions
-
Got home from a rare night out for a bucks party and am witnessing an impressive Canes performance. 21 zip after 20 minutes.
-

Yep, tries to Savea Snr, beautiful intercept to Proctor, and Jane all converted.

Fifita, Fatialofa, Vito and Proctor.have all been excellent, as has the Canes scrum, which has pushed the Lions off the ball a couple of times
-
Make that 24.

Don't think even the Hammett Canes could lose it from here. Bed time for me. -

Lions score from a driving "maul" - more truck and trailer for mine. Jantjes misses conversion. 5-24 Canes

-

Fuck yeah! Jane barely hung on to intercept a mis-timed Lions pass in midfield and scampers away to dot down under the posts

Great play Canes!

Conversion good, 5-31 Canes
-

Fark this is a riot - Canes make it look easy as Goodes shows real pace and intent bumping off Lionel Mapoe to score in the corner!

Beaudy misses 5-36 Canes
-
This is the best performance from a Canes side for a while. Defense is brutal tonight. Fatialofa is having a storming game. Keep it up lads.
-

Half time.

Canes work rate and fitness has really impressed. Fifita is tearing into everything. Proctor and Aso combining well and look accomplished in midfield.

Saveas going ok. Nice cameo from Goodes in the later stages of the half. Never thought I'd see a Canes scrum with so much grunt

Lions with no answer and look shell-shocked.
-
That Goodes try was a props dream.

Pretty sure it was Courtnall Skosan who got bumped.
-

This time more attention to detail needed from the Canes - guilty of ball-watching, chip and chase sees the Lions score a good try. Converted. 12-36 Canes

-

hometown forward pass call denies Coles a try

-

Turf cutting up rough - and yet another hometown forward pass called back for Canes

-
That Coles denial was defs a try.
-

They might have to go golden oldies scrums due to the ground cutting up

Without a doubt, not hard to call either.
-

Bunker/Sandpit LOL

-

Canes survive a sustained Lions onslaught on their own line. Fatialofa brilliant steal. Great defence Canes Keep it up

-

Lions won't be denied this time. Try. Conversion wide. 17-36 Canes. Another thrilling finish on the cards?

-

back in BP range as Aso scores after a turnover and a Coles run

-

Coles is like an 2nd five sometimes, greta set up try there

-

Coles! A ton of pace sees Coles burst through some weak defence, offloads perfectly to Aso who scoots in under the bar! Beaudy converts. 17-43 Canes

Cut away to a shot of Plumtree who is chuckling away and loving it.
-

Shame TTT isn't in the 23 - quite interested in that lad...as Gibson Park sets up the Bus

-

great work Gibson-Park (whoops) from a retreating scrum to put Savea Sr in for his 2nd

-

Savea Snr in again! A determined break from Gibson-Park - who delays a perfectly timed pass to Savea and the Bus given space will always score..Conversion good. 17-50 Canes

-
No injuries please.
-
Super rugby is becoming a bit of a joke I must say. Best Australian team loses to worst NZ team. One of the supposedly better SA sides getting handed their asses at home.
-

And....after a messy finish..its all over. Canes win 17-50. Very impressive performance by Canes, very impressed with their line-speed and fitness levels.

Savea Snr looking better with each week that passes.

Fatialofa is a beast.

We'd better wrap Coles in protective foil.
-

Hurricanes get the same score as Kane Williamson :)

-

whatever happened in that abberation in the first week against the Brumbies? To either team? One turns out to be pretty shit, the other one pretty decent

-

hurricanes havent lost to a south african team since round 3 2014 (according to after match interview)

6 teams for SA was always too many. 5 for Aust is too. Shame really
-

Shows how strong the NZ teams are in comparison doesn't it?

I think I said before the comp started that it was possible that the Blues could have a season of playing well but not making the post regular games solely because of the strength of the other kiwi sides and it is proving correct. Put the Blues into another conference and they would be in playoffs contention. -
Fuck what a hiding. I only caught the highlights so difficult to tell who our best players were, but Coles is a dead set legend. Can't think of another hooker in world rugby that comes close at the moment, he will be a key player for the ABs this year.

The 3 mauls they showed on the highlights package were confusing as fuck. In all 3 the ref clearly calls "Use it white". The Lions then don't use it and the ref doesn't blow it up. In fact twice he ended up awarding the Lions penalties after they disintergrated. Am I missing something there?

Very happy with the win. After two 1 point loses to the Landers and Chiefs we have to make sure we take the points against overseas opposition. -

That was impressive considering the tough game they had last week plus the travel ,

They are building nicely
-

Not worth a separate topic but the Jaguares are killing the Kings. It's 40-15 at half time. 6 tries to 2. The Kings are really the most awful team of all. Great watching for the spectators in Buenos Aires.

-

Full time in Buenos Aires. The Jaguares absolutely crushed the Kings, winning 73 to 27. They scored 11 tries to 4. Absolutely horrendous performance from the Kings. The Jaguares showed some good moves & played reasonably well, but seriously, this is another level (lower obviously) than the other games played this weekend.

-

Haha just watched that game. Was like a game of touch. Oh, and well done to the Hurricanes.

At a quick count NZ teams have 24 wins, 4 losses and a draw in cross-conference games.
-

I missed the game, but I did note that Shields apparently missed 5 tackles. Can anyone comment on his game? He seems to have gone backwards from last year and is nowhere near AB quality.
