All Blacks 2024

@Crazy-Horse I'd be ok if they put out a random figure, like 75 caps or something that gave you leeway, but I guess the issue is how do you measure thier form against local players?
I think if the gates were opened, NZ rugby would be on a steep decline and we'd end up like the Island sides battling with teams to release players and players opting not to go anyway due to the impact on thier earnings.

They're probably the sort of things he is suggesting NZR considers. Even if he was completely evil and wanted the gates opened I can't see that happening.

we have spent over 4 years been told by the media how this guy is the best coach ever and before he has even coached the team in a game he wants to change the rules that no other coach had the option off.
Best coach ever? Wow. Who said that?

Put down your torches and pitchforks. He might learn the bland "media-speak" you want and are used to in time. Personally, I think he needs to ruffle as many feathers as possible.

Probably is, they are the only ones probably not training with super squads.

@booboo yeah, could be only part of the squad to maintain some secrecy around possible new caps for the upcoming season
OR
Razor has invited current ABs only and he's giving them either the 👍 or the 👎 as he walks past them on the training field.Example:
Razor: "I'm sorry, Finlay. Thank you for your service."Finlay: "But coach..."
Razor: "Don't make this harder than it already is."
I would put money on Christie being in AB squad come test season. I can also see young Hotham etc being in there also.
-
I think he does offer a bit more of a different perspective on how the compulsory stand downs for ABs impact super rugby coaches and see he is keen for them to look at this to work better with thier draw, which is good.

Ok so like Eddie Jones then? Sorry mate, I prefer he makes it about team and not him.
I a supporter of Razor, but even I like coaches to not have to be front and centre. -
Just curious on others peoples thoughts on this. If Richie Came back after the Japanese season finished in May and played club rugby for Linwood do you think he should be able to be selected for ABs.
Me personally I think Razor is fishing for something or someone else. -

Hopefully he is luring Bridge back.

Disagree with what Robertson is wanting to do, but good on him for articulating his views and pushing the envelope. He clearly understands/thinks there's gaps in the talent pool which he's concerned about. NZ Rugby needs a shake-up.
But, like any other AB Head Coach, he has to make the best of what's available and will be judged on that basis.

While he may be Mr Continuity at first and build on the existing team (not a bad place to start from), I'd like to see some fresh faces pretty quickly. He has 4 years to develop his team with access to any player in NZ and should just get on with it.

Spot on. He has a lot of leeway this (and possibly next) year to try a few things out so although I have no problem with him questioning the status quo now, the above is exactly what I want him to do .

Yeah you do get that niggling feeling that it's a bit strange the coaches "guy" that helped him win 5 titles just kinda randomly upped sticks just as he grew into the role and his coach got the top job.
Opportunity to grab some Japanese spondoolies post-RWC and then back next year? I'm interested to see who'll be in the second 10 shirt - assuming DMac is favoured to start.
