Sotutu showing his true colours with his instagram post. Suck up your non selection and be better. You obviously didn’t listen to the work ons Razor gave you. He challenged you and now you’ve cried over your non selection. You’ve shown him he was right for not selecting you. Mentally weak
Ryan was on the radio this morning saying that the deciding factor was the semi-final where Sititi "put on a clinic" against the Hurricanes.
It's interesting that he uses a match Sotutu wasn't playing in to be the deciding factor but ignores the matches where Sotutu and his pack buried Sititi and his mates in the Eden Park turf. Twice. Including the final.
In fact, Ryan must be relieved he was able to find his wonder boy to tell him the good news because he didn't turn up to Eden Park on Saturday.

I wonder whether we are looking at a 6-2 bench if Sititi is to see any time.
I think the plan will be to bring out a fresh lock, fresh 6, and fresh big running 8 (Ardie moving to 7) so we can get ball running later in the game.
If we stay with 5-2, A fresh lock (Pat T), Barrett to 6, 7 to replace Paps.
Here is the key question for me - where do they see Blackadder? His selection alongside Jacobson makes no sense. Both are better as 7s at the international level so with Paps there these selections really lead us to think the inbalance isn’t going to be addressed.
The selection of Tosi makes sense, we can see him and Williams is being set up as the ball running props - who either come on together or switch as needed (so this could break up the EDG / Lomax starting prop rotation if they go that way, EDG most under-threat there).

Does't it suggest one of them is starting at 6?
A trio of 6.5, 7.5, 6.5

Blurgh.
We’ll need heaps of ball running elsewhere if we line up with Blackadder, Paps, Ardie.
So, that might make a need for Pat T to start with Williams.
Edit, and fuck our line out will be in deep shit

That's the concern isn't it - it appears on the face of it Blackadder has been selected in Akira's place, even though he's not a test 6s asshole. He's barely a test 7 given his lack of experience, though it is self evident that position best suits his skillset. The balance of the loose forwards is off because they couldn't seem to bring themselves to select Akira and Hoskins. It's only natural people want answers as to why they've done this, and they haven't provided any clear reasoning that I can see.

A mate who's also a tragic went back to look at Blackadder. His view was he was great putting the shoulder in people. But slow. Very slow. And very poor offensively.
I think he's your starting 6, and our lineout will struggle. And could be in trouble in the open field.
Hope I'm wrong though

maybe theyre looking at a much more structured gameplan, less of the everyone needs to be able attack form anywhere, run 80m to score, and more of a everyone needs to defend but attack will be more structured

I was reading in a you tube comments section this morning, and people were writing when Blackadder has played for the abs he has been outstanding.
And I may not have the best memory but I don’t really remember this .
What tests has he played?
My main memory of him is he is always injured.
-
wiki says 10 tests, i dont think maybe games in a row though so hard to build, i thought he'd been "fine" when he had played

My main memory of him as an AB was he popped up everywhere but wasn't quite sure what to do when he got there. Good at assists. Big motor but didn't get a sense he was highly effective. And questionable hands, I think? But maybe that was just my bad memory.

@nostrildamus that actually sounds about right....also feels like things that could be worked on....IF he could string a few games together...which is where my problem lies

Yes I'm happy to be proven wrong, he seems like a real team guy with a good personality and super hard worker. I'd just prefer Akira at 6 (sure he is going overseas but BB and Ardie are allowed to slot back in seamlessly). And I'd prefer Hoskins over Jacobson or Blackadder as a backup 8.
Edit: can Sititi play 6?
-
The other strange thing about the loosies is that - aside from Jacobsen and Papalii, they are not similar in style. Blackadder does not play anything like Finau. Sititi does not play anything like Savea. So any argument they're selecting based on the pattern they want to play seems very hard to justify. The only thing I can identify is that they are hell bent on having a limited 7 who does not much other than tackle themselves to a standstill. Poor old Duane Monkley was born too soon.
-
Some of the other nations must be terrified how good Finau and Sititi could be given Ioane and Sotutu aren't even in the squad. This series will be interesting!

Not good if your injuries have been shoulder related
