All Blacks 2024

@Crazy-Horse i agree the idea of swapping between tier 1 nations is stupid, can even pretend its about growing the sport or giving back to smaller nations

Sotutu is a bit baffling but I do think it must be a relationship thing.
I would love to see him back in the AB squad but after today it makes it a distant prospect
Yeah - I reckon there's probably more behind the scenes stuff that we're not privy to.
Last year when they didn't pick him for the ABs, they also didn't even pick him for AB XV - which basically meant there was no real way back for the RWC squad.
The ABs are pretty much sticklers for their various behavioural protocols - e.g. Tele'a being dropped for the Ireland QF*.
Anyway, Razor's comments make it sound like the door is open and supposedly he's a great one for relationships and connections, so hopefully he'll be back in the fold shortly.
*That was fucking steely by Fozzie, when you think about it. His last game as AB coach if he lost and a RWC QF exit to confirm him as the dunciest coach of all time - and he didn't blink.
A good thing Big Leicester didn't drop the ball when the line was gaping!

@KiwiMurph said in All Blacks 2024 - no interminable Foster arguments:
I'm a fan of reading statements like this:
"At test level it is different. Having been at the World Cup, they are bigger bodies, there are more small moments that have big margins on them,'' Robertson noted."The kicking game is so critical, the defensive game and the discipline. So how can you embed those core things early? You can be open to all information or be really, really clear.
Yet he chooses a captain who has major discipline issues
-
Most of this thread is based on ... I'm not sure. The coach can pick whoever he wants.
If we start winning it will be the usual forgive and forget. -
Oh yeah, too many wingers tho.

@Chris-B i would have hoped players would get a clean slate re relationships, so would be disappointing if he'd burnt some sort of bridge without even being in camp
Might be a clean slate with Razor, but not with Ryan.
Who knows - it's all just speculation.
Based on what I saw of his play vs Sititi, I would have picked Sotutu as being comfortably ahead.

@MajorRage Ardie overlooked for the captaincy, albeit for a very good candidate in Scott Barrett
Akira Ioane, nowhere to be seen, although he's signed to go to Japan.
Hoskins Sotutu not included, but given some encouraging comments by the Head Coach.
We might not like it, but questions will be asked if there's a pattern here?
I think Robertson's issue is he just lacks maturity.
And maybe he is supported by a poor NZR Chair and Robinson etc that have not given him good advice
His whole assistant coaching team is mostly his mates. His mate seems to be similar in various respects. Including a link with the Crusaders etc
Dame Patsy rabbits on about diversity. I think she refers to bad diversity. That is discrimination against esp. one group. And where inferior people are appointed due to box ticking.
But there is another type. Where leaders (including Robertson, Robinson and Dame Patsy) ensure the top team represent the make -up of an organisation without impacting on quality. This just hasn't happened with the ABs. This could have occurred with Savea as captain. 2 good (not great) candidates but Robertson went once again with his white Crusaders mate
So, while the organisation is supposedly committed to diversity in a very public way when it could have been used in a good way it wasn't

@Chris-B yeah, of course just speculation, i was just thinking about ryan, dont know what it would say about razor he would just defer to him
I don't know either, but I'm sure we can come up with something negative!
-
I would like to see Blackadder and Sititi both used as the impact bench loosie. I reckon that is their best spot. Give them 30 minutes to come on and go berserk.
Finau strikes me as the best 6 option with either Papalii or Jacobson at 7.
I hope we don't see Blackadder 6 and Jacobson bench for example as I don't think that suits either player.

Do Robertson, Ryan and co. have a race problem?
Selection after selection after selection, they have overlooked a brown-skinned player for the paler alternative. A really grim start to the supposed new era.
This thread is starting to go insane and providing great entertainment.
Have you seen the backline?

This thread is really getting over the top some people need to go and grab their toys and jump back in their cots.
If anyone is lacking maturity it is the people posting the immature bleating posts.Im quite happy with the Canes selections. Love and Lakai's time will come
But the fact is Robertson blew it. He had so much good will but a good portion has gone now. And he looks a little small minded and insular
He now must win. Then all will be forgiven
-
@KiwiMurph Given that we don't have the height of Whitelock and Retallick, I'm going to recant on my pre-squad selection - and say that they should probably start Finau, since he's almost certainly the best lineout option among the loosies.
Blackadder or Jacobson on the bench for this first test.

if they can be forgiven....then they havent blown it have they....if they win then they were right all along

I'm very disappointed in Sotutu missing out and I've been bleating about it for two days over in the other place so I'll spare TSF my thoughts on it.
Their lock selections are another conundrum. Darry should've been straight in. Paddy deserves his spot but he's got an injury cloud so maybe Darry will get his chance after all. Tupou Vaai is more a loose forward in my opinion.
Bell over Riccittelli is ridiculous.
-
Patty T is an interesting one, another that hasn't really kicked on at international level, 31 with +40 tests and not a nailed on starter is small worry

Who is the next TH? Ofa? So Ofa covers LH, so effectively Tosi beats out XN?
It’s probably nothing to read into, but while I was watching club footy on the weekend, Tamaiti Williams came on and played tight head.
Again probably nothing as Newell is the Crusaders tighthead, thought I’d add that to the discussion for what it’s worth.
