Sititi showed today that he isn’t yet ready. Just a question of more experience.

Try at get him some game time at 6 or 7 too.

Ardie and Hoskins have the 8 jersey between them on lock for a whale.

    Akira won't get picked

Maybe, but on form he’s the best 6 in New Zealand.

@Frank He had a couple of good carries wide, but Sotutu was far more effective in close, on defence, and cleaning. Great in the lineout too.

if one asked the question of who in back five of pack Stern Vern would pick from other franchises to replace Blues incumbents, I’m not sure there’d be anyone.

    SB at lock perhaps.

He's a massive talent, but I don't think he's yet ready to throw in at the deep end against England.

Try to develop him by 2027 into a guy who can play all three Backrow positions. He'd be the ideal bench forward or to slot into the XV in case of an injury.

Ardie confirms he's not Captain, unless he's straight out lying

Ahead of Scott Robertson's first All Blacks squad announcement, Savea said he hadn't spoken with the new All Blacks coach yet.

"I'm just crossing my fingers and I'll wait for the news. I'm not going to overthink it. I'll go about my day and see if I do make it."

The World Rugby player of the year is highly likely to be named on Monday, although whether he's selected as the new All Blacks captain to replace Sam Cane is another matter.

Not unexpected. Razor will obv pick someone who he’s worked with closely over someone who I don’t think he’s ever coached…

@Machpants NZ worst kept secret at the moment is that Scott Barrett is going to be the new captain.

I'd have gone with Ardie if I'm honest. Humble bloke, smart, respected by everyone in world rugby, reigning World Player of the Year, great with the media, empties the tank every time he wears the black jersey.

What more do you want from a captain?

Disappointing that Robertson is already giving preference to his old buddies with the Sith.

Agree. And not another Crusader. Robertson would prove he can look outside his mates. And the diversity factor as well.

Great with the media is a big factor, Scott is a bit limited in this respect.

    Hoskins Sotutu – 8.5
Hoskins Sotutu was the best player in Super Rugby Pacific this season. It all started with five tries in just two games to open the campaign, and about five months later, it ended with a slice of history by taking out the title.

Especially early on in the final, Sotutu was busy. With the Chiefs’ Wallace Sititi lining up opposite him, Sotutu took the challenge head-on by running around desperate to get his hands on the ball.

Sotutu ended up carrying the ball 15 times for 36 metres, passing it on 13 occasions and finishing with 100 per cent tackle completion as well. With the All Blacks squad set to be announced this coming week , it would be a surprise not to see ‘Hoskins Sotutu’ among the backrowers selected.

    No Hoskins in the squad

That would be criminal. There really isn’t much else he could do. He’s had one hell of a season, to not even be in the 32 just seems crazy.

Just to add to the earlier chat about Tamaiti Williams. He got through a solid 40mins of footy today, looked good and finished the game healthy. A man amongst boys out there.

Hoskins Sotutu has been the player of the tournament. He must surely make the ABs 32.
