@Bones Haven't been impressed with what I've seen of Roe. I feel like he's a tad slow and stifles the Chiefs attack when he comes on.

This is gonna sound crazy, but is Drummond a chance of a call up? He's a big no for me, but has worked with these coaches for a long time and Roigard getting injured leaves us a bit thin there.

@African-Monkey I’d personally start Perenara now if he can keep his form up, atleast until Ratima or Fakatava can find their feet at the next level. Christie offers nothing more than mediocracy for me.

@Bones didn't say he was the worst by any means at all , my opinion he ain't the best either and I did say he will get there eventually, but he's missing 2 big ingredients to be in AB starting 23 at the moment, that's what I've heard, not winding U up at all ,and obviously gone for 8 months or more apparently, won't matter until next season,

OMG, that is an ice cold take. The only thing Cam lacks right now to be the starting AB 9 is a functioning patella

Agreed. If Christie never wears the black jersey again I'll be more than okay with that

Heinz has done his eligibility stand down. Drummond, Heinz and Hotham?

Honestly think there is every chance that the Hurricanes is the only the team to provide the first All Blacks squad with uncapped players...

Chance for a bolter at lock (Walker-Leawere?) and in the loose (Iose?), but outside of that, looking at Numia, Procter and Love as the most likely uncapped players to get call-ups.

@Windows97 Christie/ Beauden was probably going to be starting halves anyway, with Roigard of bench maybe,

No way, Roigard would have been the top halfback hands down. If not, the coaches have rocks in their head. Christie is just so damn average, anyone with half a brain can see that.

Hence why there's concerns MacDonald would still pick Christie.

One silver lining from the Roigard injury may be more game time for Jordi Viljoen. That kid looks to have some real talent - obviously 2024 is too early for the ABs for him but would be good for his development to get more game time.

Can the surgeon hurry up and report THE NATURE OF Roigard's injury (YOU SAID TUESDAY CAM!!!!!!) so I don't have to listen to tripe that he's the 4th best halfback in the country.

I can't see Numia getting a look in unless there's an injury or two. We are prop rich this year.

@Bones Numia is in great touch but I think you’re right, might have to take a few injuries for him to get chance. I just hope he gets in so we can finally say we have a test match front row. Not sure if the Canes ever have tbh.

The Chiefs' halfbacks haven't really taken their chances so far, but that may change by the end of the season.

I really like Ratima's game for test rugby - but yeah he seemed a bit flat against the saders. Reckon Roe is the most Smith like, be interesting to see how he develops.

    Didn’t Roe start?

@frugby I think Proctor and Love are really good chances of making it. I think one of Iose, Lakai or Kirifi will get in, Iose most likely on form. Walker-Leawere has the size for test rugby but needs to show he can consistently play top level rugby, he was really good last week but I don’t think he’ll get picked unless he dominates for the rest of the year. I think our most underrated player is Caleb Delany, he’s been exceptional for the Canes and hopefully he’s in the conversation because he’s been bloody good for a long time now, so much better than James Blackwell. Good to have a number of players in the convo as a Canes fan.

His positives far outweighed any negatives. Good head on him too.

@KiwiMurph I did a post a couple weeks ago on players who I thought were in the running on form. I like the look at what Sotutu has done so far this year, I think Stevenson for the Chiefs has continued his hot form from last year but I think he goes missing a bit when DMac isn’t there. Definitely a class finisher though.

Reece is another that should get a recall, he’s been one of the best going around both offensively and defensively.

I like the look of Hannah from the Saders and Beehre from the Blues but I think they might be a tad too young yet for the next level. Same with Fabian Holland who isn’t eligible yet anyway.

I like what Harmon has done for the Landers over the last few years but I think he’ll be in competition for that one spot with quite a number of form loosies across NZ so it’s hard to say. Got plenty of depth in that area atm.

Someone posted an All Blacks XV on form (below) I like what I see. 😉

Arguably a big difference between us winning the final and losing it
