Fair fucks to him. he went away let the pain drive him forward and waited 14 years to deliver his revenge in the coldest way possible: giving every marginal call possible against the ABs.
He was even smarter than that - he managed to get most of the vitriol for destroying a rugby match, again, deflected onto the TMO.
I note that many of his defenders are English. It is easier for them to rate him....they never played in his "matches".
Sadly, as I, and several others have said, he was far from the worst and all of the refs are hamstrung by an unworkable set of rules and protocols laid out by an incompetent bunch of morons. (Yes, I am bitter that I would now rather mow lawns on a Saturday than watch rugby - union).

Scary shit. Gotta question whether he's made the right decision, but no harm done I guess...
My bro in law had the same thing. Pretty nerve wracking, but the procedure he had generally sorts the problem out
Weird anecdote related to circulatory things: a looooong time ago, my son was in the special care neonatal ward with another kid born about 6 weeks prem.
At one point this kid's heart started racing crazy fast, and they got the Doc on the phone, who told the nurse: "put your thumbs over his eyeballs and press down gently".
Almost instantly settled it back down to normal.

Nice that he would allow a serious medical event to potentially affect his performance and by extension the result of the games he was reffing

"I limited my running as much as possible for the rest of the first half, which both teams made easier for me by giving loads of penalties away, but I knew I had to tell my fellow referees during the break."
Um, don't think he should have been there.

That quote is spoken by a guy who thinks rugby games exist purely for the benefit of the ref

Or the more accurate version I think:
""I limited my running as much as possible for the rest of the first half by blowing everything up as a penalty ". -

Narcissistic self indulgence at its most conceited.
He is a disgrace. You can train all your life as a player and climb the greasy pole of professional sport only to have your dream of winning the pinnacle of the sport, the RWC final, dashed, by a sub standard performance dished out by a man unfit for the task at hand serving only to sprinkle some icing on his televised vanity project.
A Richard Cranium of the highest order.
Good riddance to that absolute bellend.
The fact that refs are even writing books tells you all you need to know about the state the game is in.
