I know this has been brought up before but one thing is those players (one SA prop) in particular who get down so ridiculously low its virtually impossible to tackle them without making contact to the head. The tackler has to literally slide along the ground. Its effectively inviting a shoulder or arm to the head. How tf is that making the game safer?
Need to learn judo and hip toss them
we've had AB judoka before...oh and at least one wrestler..

is he right about the TMO 2 phases rule?

@nostrildamus seems to be:

@nostrildamus seems to be:
Where match officials believe a Clear and Obvious infringement may have occurred in the immediate two phases of play leading to a try being scored, or in the preventing of a possible try from being scored.

yes unless foul play (any time before game restarts)...

I hadn’t seen that article but the “RIP rugby” is reflected in my comment above. Re the try - every time I have been watching with my wife and the comms say “great try”, he’s in” etc, she says “or is it?” Or “or is he?” She’s right and it makes it very difficult to get excited when someone gets over the line because it may very well not result in the score changing. Anyway I’ll shut up about my former lover now, but the grief is real.
-
Regarding the Reason article, what exactly do the rules say about how and when the TMO can intervene? And how far after a try ruled as such can check back on knock-ons, forward passes etc? Because the way this code is going, I can foresee these tinpot frustrated schoolmasters leafing back to the Middle Ages to prove their points. Honestly, where is the transparency here? It’s a clown show. (Apologies, just saw BooBoo’s clarification. Seems we really were robbed in that case). Replay next Saturday?

@gt12 I wrote us off at half time too but it was far from over as it played out. Poor goalkicking and a lack of rugby smarts cost us the win in the 2nd half. A very winnable game even with only 14 men.
I thought we dropped a huge amount of ball as well, and we don't seem to be talking about it. It was one of the keys to losing - drop ball, missed kicks, TMO/discipline (choose your poison) and arguably lack of rugby nous.
When Mbonambi went off, I thought we should be kicking for lineouts and putting pressure. If that starts disintegrating, you create space in the middle of the field.
In the second half, we should have kicked the ball out in their half much more and really pressured their line out. I can't recall a single pinout in that time that was contested and that they won. We should have turned the screws on them in that area the entirety of that second half. The breaks in play that the line outs would have created would have allowed us - the team playing with 14 men - also to get some rest and preserve energy for late on in the game.

There has been a discipline and or cards issue for some time.
I'd say there's a clear subconscious bias. IMO a capable TMO wouldn't have said the threshold was made for a bloke that has someone turn into him, and not for someone that runs 10 metres into the face of someone else.
I also take umbrage at the discretionary use of "absorbing".
you meant to answer my post?
A I think there is a discipline/card or at least playing to the ref problem with this side for awhile but on the other hand
B I'm not very happy with the TMO or the amount of consistency in the cards/penalties of the RWC final (i.e. I think I agree with you)Yeah, although I agree we've not been squeaky clean and hence gambling with the vagaries of the adjudicators, but I seriously feel we've not been getting the rub of the green since the Lions Test.

So can we agree that the finale of the world’s biggest sporting event after the Olympics and Football World Cup - one in which tens of millions of dollars has been invested and which tens of thousands of people spent a fortune on attending - has just been decided by a little man in a back room on a laptop who doesn’t know the rules. What an absolute crock.

Who wants to fund a class action against Bill Beaumont and the World Rugby board?
