RWC Final: All Blacks v Springboks

@Winger yep the decision not to red card Kolisi was totally inconsistent. Ardie didn’t dip and yet Kolisi got him flush on the face, with Ardie reeling back from the contact. The fact that Kolisi bent over slightly actually meant he led with his head into the contact. Incredibly dangerous.
We all know that rugby has become boring card lottery and that the mugs that run the game from Europe are incompetent. This is at every level not just WC finals.

really just posting...because i feel i should post after the big game
Gutted sums it up
There are things i would like to complain about but the reality we just didn't play as well as we needed to win, we didn't play like we did against ireland and it showed
I also just think SA wanted it more, i know their fans did, at a pub in melbourne and their fans were RABID, kiwis stood quietly at most mumbling the national anthem but the Bokke supporters were calling it out, chanting during the game etc....and i think the team played like it too...just flying up on defence when we held back and waited for them to come to us
i feel we get cards by carelessness or brain explosions, cane gets caught off guard with a player turning into him...card, scooter last week = brain fart...the Bokke get done because theyre pushing the limits, if they catch someone in a high tackle its because theyre flown out to make a dominant tackle
now thats a bad result....but i think it shows they just really want to win...and we just want to play a bit of footy
What a load of horseshit. If our guys weren't desperate to win they would have given up when their captain was sent off. Just because Saffas puff their chests out more in pubs doesn't mean our players wanted it any less.
They certainly weren't blue headed tho, SA know exactly what they want and don't get over excited like a lot of our backs seemed to
That has nothing to do with wanting to win. And remember our guys were a man down for most of the game.

I'm surprised Ardie wasn't carded for falling over.

I thought Wayne Barnes had a good game, especially in the last 20. He understood the stakes, let the players decide the game without it descending into a free-for-all
But he'd all but sealed the fate of the match well before that. The Frizzell yellow was worse than Kolisi not getting a red. Not to mention the bizarre rulings around the ruck
Oh this is such loser mentality.
The Boks were up by less than a converted try through most of the half. The last 15 they were up by a point.
The ABs had a mountain of ball and plenty of it in the Boks 22. But thanks to good Bok defence and a few crucial errors under pressure the All Blacks couldn't score. That's rugby and that's why they were the better team on the day... just.
But apparently the match was sealed thanks to a few decisions in the first 50. Not sure why the All Blacks even bothered to play.

@nzzp Karma really IS a bitch isn't it?
Acting the dickhead to opposition supporters and players after the final whistle just sets you up for payback. Idiot.True. Sexton, O'Mahony and the Irish crowd found that out the hard way.

The officiating probably served to prevent ABs from scoring 7 to 10 points more, and directly contributed to 3 of Boks points.
Sometimes the better team loses. That's sport. But ABs did more than enough to win that one and only denied their just desserts by officials, in particular TMO.
Look forward to next time Boks play best team in the southern hemisphere.

You can believe this all you want. Hey whatever makes you sleep at night.
But from where I sat the better team won, and the scoreboard reflected that pretty nicely, as it generally does.

The All Blacks did score.
Kind of weird to say a dodgy yellow and early red didn't impact the match. Or just a bad attempt at trolling

Yep, as suspected. Just poor trolling

Of course it impacted the match, but that's not what you said. You said it 'all but sealed the fate of the game'.
It didn't. The All Blacks had plenty of scoring chances, and as you point out they took one. Game was still plenty alive and if Mo'unga converts then they might well have won.

I'm conflicted. The ABs should have been more clinical in the 2nd half and goal kicking obviously cost us, so in that sense we didn't deserve the win.
Having said that, how the hell did SA not put away a team that was down to 14 for 65 minutes of the game? They should never have allowed us to be so close. If Jordie had kicked that final penalty and the ABs had gone on to win that game, that would go down as a massive choke by SA. But they won, so the narrative changes and they are now being hailed as the most clutch team of all time. Fine margins.

Yeah this. If we'd failed to beat a team that were a player down (and their captain) for most of the game then the players would have been rightly crucified.

Sorry, but it did. That we still had a chance was amazing. But in the end, it determined the outcome. Mind boggling this is even a discussion point

@akan004 Can't disagree. And within those fine margins lies the madness and the beauty of the whole thing.
I thought Siya Kolisi bombed a pretty certain try at the start of the second half, then got himself yellow carded soonafter. But instead of a pariah, he's a conquering hero.
