Was stupid to select reserves props who can't scrum against a team like SA, and in a game like this where there were plenty of stoppages, there was no need to bring them on so early. Borthwick fucked up.
We don’t have any props who can scrummage! Why do you think dads army were there in the first place. Blame the Premiership not the coach
Then why replace the starters so early? It's not like they weren't having rest breaks every 5 minutes.
Because the guys who had been on for 55 mins got folded in half after the Boks changed their front row
Including "that" Mitchell kick after having it on a string for 50 minutes
Another ridiculous replacement.

What a crap match. A replay of the 2007 final. SA only have 2 tactics: high balls and scrum penalties.
-
@taniwharugby gold. England stake another commonwealth claim

Why are people complaining about the try?
I couldn't see anything wrong with it.
Shame England didn't win as I doubt they would have any chance against the All Blacks.
Because the runner off the back of the lineoit was tackled to the ground and got up and went again without releasing
But was he held?
Yes!
Just looked. Yes he was, but it's unclear to me what he did after that, there's no clear replay of what happened. It certainly looked real-time as if he got up, but potentially just rolled over. Would like to see that from the sideline camera.
I understand your disappointment though @Dodge
To be fair, it doesn’t matter what he did after that. He was tackled, got up, went for the line and was hit again. Whether it made any difference is irrelevant to how obvious a penalty it was
-
Just watched delay. England had that. The starting props will want to execute their replacements. All that insane commitment for nothing.

Did BOK become obsessed with scrums at the end. Evidence on X that says yes

To be fair to BOK, Reynal gave most of them from the far side which is why BOK went over

I think he was flung over by the tackler, so don't agree from that view

Scrum now worries me. Lomax and De groot need to have masive shifts.
Which they always do. I couldn't be worried less.

Our backup props worry me more than our starters. Ox off the bench is a better scrummager than Kitshoff, so it's a risk to select Williams and Newell imo. Would rather have Nepo and Ofa.

I couldn’t care less about the volume of kicking and lack of “rugby”. That’s the great thing about rugby, more than one way to win a game. Especially in weather like that.
I’m very glad we don’t play like that though!
What irks me is the constant stoppages and time wasting and using medics and water runners to coach. They need to get the fuck off the field. They shouldn’t even be miked up.
If it carries on like this, we might have to go to neutral medics and the players can drink the rain from the sky
Absolute disgrace

Couldn’t agree more. Forget this evening from an England point of view, the time it takes to set a scrum, to throw into a lineout, every time a forward needs to replace a contact lens etc drives me nuts.
