Question worth considering regarding Telea, was the punishment decided by the player leadership group?
Does that group include Scott Barrett, Taylor, Whitelock and Mounga?
I heard that Williams, Newell and Jordan had also been promoted to the leadership group. And McCaw and Carter are in France so they had a say too.

I pretty sure those with Coles, Nuggett and BR are the leadership group that met early in year (jan/feb)

You’re suggesting there’s leadership in this team?

I am! I can't be as anti or negative mate!

Fair enough mate, the one thing ST brings is ability to get over the gainline and dominant tackles.
Ireland have a well oiled system that is functioning very well.
If you look at the Scotland game they had a tone of ball and made a lot of metres which didn’t result in points. This is mainly to Scotland not being able to stress the Irish system enough to really hurt it. They were very good at being able to repel it.
My point is we need to be able to get over the gainline in order to be able to put pressure on Ireland defence and Sami T is the best hooker at doing that and he will certainly be more effective at that than Dane Coles.

@mariner4life Fozzie must have shares in the ISP that the Fern runs off because traffic has never been higher after he picks the team
Case after evry team naming regardless ACT, you have to remember the ones who know the most ,post, and those that don't just do it!
Well if you believe what you read on forums.
Nah. Things were pretty quiet during the Henry and even Hansen selection days. Although when Kevin O’Neil, Aled De Malmanche and Sosene Anesi made the ABs forum chatter picked up

Like most, my first reaction is why TF Christie is there over Roigard. Absolutely baffling.
Looking at it overall, it's the best 23 aside from that one glaring selection (and Telea being unavailable).
My concern though is the starting props haven't had a lot of recent game time. They're our best, no doubt, but that is a worry.
I must admit I would go for Roigard, but I think (well and Foster says it) Christie is considered a better defender, which is hard to argue with or against as I haven't really taken a lot of notice, and with Irish you will see that Gibson-Parkes does cause problems for teams in and around breakdowns.
As for Telea, I guess if you break the rules , usually set by the leadership team, you have to cop it I suppose. And perhaps he wasn't desperate enough to play or he wouldn't of done it.Apologies to all and sundry for being a grammar Nazi. But “wouldn’t have done it”
All this time and you're complaining about Dan's grammar now?

@Kiwiwomble whats to upvote, it's a press release, I only upvote people's opinions.
almost every other team announcement would have a stack of upvotes, "thats our team" stuff, normally a line in the sand before the actual game

Hell I have never seen forums quite when teams named, and add into more people populate them these days.

Yep the thing with ST, I don't really recall him getting over the gainline very much this year, he certainly (even for Chiefs) probably hasn't crossed gainline as many times as he has missed lineout targets this year? Not sure if it's second year syndrome or whatever, or teams are more aware of him, just hasn't carried like last year etc.

@Kiwiwomble Yep mate, but I never do as I only upvote posts with comments I meant, jsut who I agree with etc or some of their points.

We were winning more often than not then and putting 40+ points on teams like Ireland.

yeah, and thats great...but i never called you out, just said those that might normally...havent...as an indication maybe of how disappointing they find it....and you volunteered your "upvote" ethos

Anyway I am no doubt the idiot of the board, in my picks I have taken the ABs, and although I know it's not guaranteed as thei Irish team is f***en good as seen by beating almost every other team of note in last year or two, and so eithetr trhey all useless or poorly coached or Ireland are good!. So if they do win, not because we are no good, but I believe because they are just a good, much as many of us who claim to be AB supporters aren't ever going to give them credit for!

Yeah I don't think ST has been as effective this year, Super Rugby included. Hopefully in time he will recapture last year's form, but I do wonder if last year was a blip where he seemed to come out of nowhere. I don't recall many people, even Chief's supporters, talking him up prior to selection. Very happy to be proven wrong of course.

Re ST....is there anyone that has lifted their game under fozzie?....is there anyone that plays better for the AB's than in super anymore? feel like at most there are a few that play as well but several that seem to go down hill in the black jersey

I pondered this a while back. Everyone seems to go backwards.

The thing about Samisoni is that he is genuinely powerful ball in hand. He won't run wide and look pretty like Ardie or whoever, but he can go forwards against a set defence. Who else do we have like that?
Our lack of guys with that exact trait is the whole reason Frizzell has gone from a questionable squad selection to someone who is being spoken about as a reason for us losing games when he's not available.
