I'm not happy about Christie, Telea.
However I am really worried snd concerned about Tamaiti Williams on the bench. We should be picking experience on the bench, not a rookie.
True. Experience losing is still good. All part of learnings.

Like most, my first reaction is why TF Christie is there over Roigard. Absolutely baffling.
Not baffling. He's been picked for his defence which is one dimensional thinking.
Completely the wrong decision IMHO as Roigard offers a whole lot more and is what we used to call a "comer" in the old days - a player not frightened to try things

Foster shat the bed with his selections in his first test as head coach against Australia in 2000, and it looks like he has done the same in what will probably be his last test as ABs head coach. That bench is average tbh.
Big fan of Talea but he has let the team down badly. He's been our most lethal back at the RWC and his absence will be felt.
Jeepers. 23 years. No wonder Foster has gone a bit stale. Time for him to go.

He's ready and waiting. In Chch...
And working on George Bridge's side-stepping skills
-
@Victor-Meldrew I reckon heโd make him feel world class at the v least ๐
-
It pains me to say I have never been more confident of an impending All Black loss
Under Foster we have arrived at RWC QF 4 years later as a massive underdog.
Even against England in the 2019 RWC semi final there was reasonable degree of confidence the ABs would get the job doneHoping for the best expecting the worst
I would imagine thatโs what many other supporters use to think when their team was taking on the All Blacks -
Not one to cause alarm but Roigard was a breath of fresh air at Twickenham. It was only South Africa though.

Christie was a breath of carious, decaying tooth air in many other Tests, though, which has its fans, too
-
@Victor-Meldrew that is baffling to me.
Any supposed superiority in Christie's defence is more than negated by Roigard's superiority elsewhere.
So again, I think it's baffling.

Any new bloke coming on with the game well and truly over and having a go would have looked a breath of fresh air in that shit-show.
What was way more impressive was the way he calmed himself down after a shit start against Uruguay and then played like he was born to the role.

Schmidt must have had an input into the 9. He coached Christie with the Blues, so maybe he swayed Foster ๐ฌ
Yes, it would be good to know how much influence the assistant coaches have in the final selections. Ryan has rolled the dice with the young props while Schmidt has gone all conservative.
-
Schmidt was always conservative with Irish selections. I really think not picking Roigard is a msssive mistake. Christie is the kind of halfback the Scottish would choose. Oh wait he is Scottish.

Not for me. I understand the thinking and decision
I also understand it's shit thinking and a shit decision..
-
@Victor-Meldrew Well his laser like focus and determination was what set him apart.
Oh yeah and he scored a try from halfway. -

Really though? What is the actual defensive edge he has, any idea? It's been said a lot, but there hasn't been any substance put to it.
