Like most, my first reaction is why TF Christie is there over Roigard. Absolutely baffling.
Looking at it overall, it's the best 23 aside from that one glaring selection (and Telea being unavailable).
My concern though is the starting props haven't had a lot of recent game time. They're our best, no doubt, but that is a worry.
I must admit I would go for Roigard, but I think (well and Foster says it) Christie is considered a better defender, which is hard to argue with or against as I haven't really taken a lot of notice, and with Irish you will see that Gibson-Parkes does cause problems for teams in and around breakdowns.
As for Telea, I guess if you break the rules , usually set by the leadership team, you have to cop it I suppose. And perhaps he wasn't desperate enough to play or he wouldn't of done it. -

@Bones have to say it must be reasonably major to be stood down for a RWC quarter final, when he is a form winger?
No I don't think so, the rules don't change 'cos it is a 1/4, the ABs leadership group will have set the rules, and they will have given the punishment. Same as if it was Namibia on Sun.
Exactly it was the leadership group that stopped Cruden going on a tour when he missed a team bus a few years back.

MajorRage I'm stronger than you

@Bones only this week...Will he be dropped from the flight home?
Being a few mins late to a meeting vs coming home later than curfew are different IMO, although without valid reasoning both speak to some ill discipline
I don't we will find out the exact detail given some of these often fly under the radar.
LF and FC to have blinders

@BerniesCorner “you’re just a shit Mark Telea”
-
Foster shat the bed with his selections in his first test as head coach against Australia in 2000, and it looks like he has done the same in what will probably be his last test as ABs head coach. That bench is average tbh.
Big fan of Telea but he has let the team down badly. He's been our most lethal back at the RWC and his absence will be felt.

@stodders That's the craic

I’m hearing foster is out injured of the coaching box. Something about cutting off his nose after a dispute with his face.

Only if he tries to sneak a drumstick out of the bucket again.

I'm not happy about Christie, Telea.
However I am really worried snd concerned about Tamaiti Williams on the bench. We should be picking experience on the bench, not a rookie.
True. Experience losing is still good. All part of learnings.

Not baffling. He's been picked for his defence which is one dimensional thinking.
Completely the wrong decision IMHO as Roigard offers a whole lot more and is what we used to call a "comer" in the old days - a player not frightened to try things

Jeepers. 23 years. No wonder Foster has gone a bit stale. Time for him to go.
