i've seen another angle of the Ioane/Sexton "incident" and that makes it look for all money like the first words come from the guy in green (when Iaone had moved on to shake the next guys hand), Ioane chirps back, and Sexton blows up.
It's all dumb shit and i wish people would stop talking about it
Nah fuck that.
Living in vitriol and hate is so much fun
"Classless" ?
Pot meet kettle

They backed their "cut and paste" attack to pry open the ABs defence.
That was quite the telling comment from Foz.
As if, in actual fact, they have fuck all variation, and once you figure it out, you can defend it all day.
I noticed this in my drunken haze at the ground. It was all very methodical.
Boks guy was commenting on same at pub last night, and how slow Sexton was. Perhaps after the 30th phase a pop kick might have been worth a shot? Definition of insanity and all?
They were 4 points down
Their cut and paste wasn't working. Roll the die? Pretty tame ending for them.
You're thinking droppy earlier in the match? Thought you meant that last phase, whereupon a droppy would have lost it foe them by 1.
No, just think after, say, 30 phases, a chip kick would have been worth a shot. Might have even worked.
I can imagine the outcry if BB or RM did a chip kick in the same situation and it didn't come off. I can see why Ireland didn't try one.
History is written by the victors. What can be said without fear of contradiction is that they perservered with a strategy which had shown no sign of working.

@DaGrubster Eek! About 60 into the semi Pakman junior asked, 'What's happening, Dad?'!

Good Christ. How did this not get pinged?
Despite this, and the two yellows from Barnes, the first of which should never have stood, we still prevailed.
Irish just weren't good enough.

Fletcher also getting neckrolled as Ardie went for the steal (which could have been penalised as no release by Ardie, but foul play overrules any other).

Agreed, we were silly to let them get back into it immediately st the kick off from 13-0.
It meant that had a toe hold straight away to bring it back to 10 points. We should have been ultra disciplined to let 13 points get into their head.
I hope that was called out and that we have learned what that could have meant in a knockout game.
The first yellow card was a shit call as it wasn’t a try scoring opportunity and they missed an obvious forward pass seconds earlier.
To be beaten by a side that had 2 yellow cards and you were never in front of the whole game, shows that you were actually well beaten.

Maybe this is the opposite of the 2007 RWC campaign. Rather than over thinking it about whether individual players can get through three knockout games in a row, just get stuck in and fire up for each game at a time.
Injuries, attrition, and tiredness being factors that each team that makes the Final just has to deal with.
Really good point. Seen that in successful business teams where planning got screwed and they had to just stay focussed on the basics. Imagine the military do this every day.
i'll always look back on the 2015 highlanders
more or less the same 23 played the final 5 games
Wellington > Auckland > Dunedin > Sydney > Wellington....they run out onto the caketin looking like mummies covered that that much strapping tape after bounding around ANZ...amazing what blind passion can get done

@sparky to be fair, prior to that match, the ABs had only shown what they were capable of for short periods, our defence had been suspect, our discipline was awful, but, somehow it all came together v Ireland.
I reckon any analysis of us over the past few years would have seen our defence and discipline as areas to attack, multiple phases would normally attract pens, and multiple pens, cards, if not, our passive defence would give up massive metres and tries, but this weekend, it didnt, lets hope this is the new direction, not another blip.

The All Blacks have only lost one of
their own lineouts this World Cup
10/11 vs France
11/11 vs Namibia
15/15 vs Italy
7/7 vs Uruguay
8/8 vs Ireland
51/52 Total -
@Daffy-Jaffy I've watched rugby all my life. I don't know what "rucking" as a stat means. Is that a Northern term?
Does it mean clearing out? Using your boots? Hitting rucks? Winning the ball in a ruck you're involved in?
-
@ShitMcCaw I love this. You lost when it counted. No ref giving us red cards for accidental head clashes which is basically what gave you a series in NZ.
Maybe you'll be back to challenge us again. It will have to be in the pool or the quarter final though because semi-finals and beyond are for the big boys
