But seriously, I do wonder if Foster & co had noticed something robotic about the Irish attack when chasing a game down and planned for that in their defensive preparation.
Just heard a soundbite from Coles about the next game. Talked about scores to settle from losing to the Argies recently......
The team is doing a good job of creating a bunker mentality. The chip is working for them.
Yep, I'm increasingly thinking this is what will get the AB's through the next two weeks. Always hoping!
If the ABs are anything like me, the thought of Boks on trophy a fourth time is motivation enough.

Maybe this is the opposite of the 2007 RWC campaign. Rather than over thinking it about whether individual players can get through three knockout games in a row, just get stuck in and fire up for each game at a time.
Injuries, attrition, and tiredness being factors that each team that makes the Final just has to deal with.

I watched the full game with the RWC commentary and the highlights with the NZ commentary. After 10 minutes of the NZ I was glad I watched the full with the RWC commentary.

Aside from the pronunciation of Savea I really like the World feed main commentator (Rupert Cox?). He does a great job.
Is he a Kiwi? I did hear him say on-air that he went to Auckland GS, but I won't hold that against him.
The English sideline person in the England-Fiji game really struggled to say those Fijian names.

There were also 4 clear moments Barnes should have called it earlier. Hell, Ardie was basically inducted into the Rugby Hall of Fame he had latched onto the ball so long. All done now but damn.

I can imagine the outcry if BB or RM did a chip kick in the same situation and it didn't come off. I can see why Ireland didn't try one.

New Zealand defence coach Scott McLeod has defended Ian Foster's comments about Ireland's attack that he says were taken out of context.
"McLeod explained how the All Blacks in fact needed to go back to the drawing board on defence after realising that their defensive systems were falling behind that of European sides.
“After the series loss at home last year [against Ireland] which really hurt, we had to have a really good look at some fundamentals in the defensive game for the All Blacks and a big part of that was in Super Rugby in New Zealand they tend to defend the man. So, they line up on a man and they defend the man. Whereas that doesn’t work against Ireland, it doesn’t work against Italy, it doesn’t work against France and we knew we had those teams more than likely in this World Cup.
“So, we had to develop our ability to be able to defend the ball. Wherever the ball is we had to put people in front of that."

Chances of NZ conceding a penalty were much higher than the chances of a chip actually resulting in anything. I didn't believe we'd stay penalty free for so long.
