RWC Week 2: All Blacks v Namibia
-
My first impression of the red card tackle, watching in real time: "fuck someone is in trouble here" - based mainly on the fact the second tackler (EdG) didn't lower himself at all.
Once the replay came up it was clear he was fucked. Yes the tackler dipped his head as he was going into contact, but firstly: everyone does that, so tacklers should know, and the only effect it probably had was to stop him getting hit on the chin. He didn't really drop in height significatly.
Was very lazy from EdG and deserved a red card.
- Always upright
- No significant drop from ball carrier
- Leading with the shoulder - no real attempt to wrap
Now we spin the wheel.

It's shite not supporting the smartest team
But it is brave to support the dumbest!

As you all should know by now, I am a very astute watcher of the game and I noticed one thing today that nobody else seems to have mentioned. Sam Whitelock seems to have more hair.

It’s a lot greyer of late.
As someone else has mentioned the most amazing thing is that he is actually younger than Dane Coles who it turns out is older than Brad Thorn was when he played.

Watching a replay. Half time thoughts
Considering how we want to play I have no idea why DMac isn't starting at 10
The case for roigard not being th3 bench halfback gets weaker all the time
If we have to rely on either ALB or Havili playing any minutes let alone starting in a knock out game we are cooked
The TMO can get entirely fucked taking that maul try off -

It's always funny when you see the next maul - nowhere near the try line - allowed to continue in exactly the same manner.
And not "ha-ha" funny

Ive watched De Groots tackle a few times at normal speed now.
There is nothing in it for me, but I admit im a dinosaur.
Ive dished out and taken hits like that in all my playing days.
He hits shoulder first, and then glances head.
I thought you were only 38 ?
Time waits for no man my friend. Im younger than the rest of ye but ready for the knackers yard none the less.

Explains the anger
Left myself open to that sort of quip. Well played.

@mariner4life the amount of basic errors DMac made against an average opposition should give you your answer.

Discipline is still a massive worry. 12 penalties conceded against a poor side like Namibia is a terrible stat.
Not sure why this continues to be an issue. Perhaps the coaches are far too nice and the players don't fear them. Drop serial offenders for a game and I bet they don't do it again. Whatever it is they better fix it fast.

Fozzie general expression in that video either shows he is really feeling the pressure or is having trouble holding in a massive dump.

Was that an old school scissors move?
Going would be proud of Roigard.
The kid comes in and looks at home starting for the Canes. He comes off the bench and keeps the ABs machine humming, albeit late in a game we were well in control of. And he starts a test, albeit vs Namibia, and earns MOTM honours. Cam looks to have so much time to make decisions, has not been phased during his meteoric rise, at least as far as Ive seen him. This kid is mustard

He has done exactly what you are asking of BB since returning from Japan, straightforward simple game management, allowing his outsides to shine. I give him a pass for the Bled 3 display having the handicap of 9 new players in the team

Only takeaway from the 2nd half was
Why do we have no pace on the wing? Created so many overlaps that guys couldn't take advantage of because they were being run down and felt the need to cut in.
I'm not too worried about the penalty count given old mate piercey was really only reffing one team today (which is fine, they needed the help, and we needed the practice)

Was the cover defence still there? I'm not sure the space was enough out wide because we didn't consistently go up the guts to drag the defence in and create more
