So England played 4, won 1 & lost 3
That likely means they need to win the 5 remaining games to have a chance of qualifying? That includes games against India & Australia
Does this put NZs strong start into a bit more perspective? England only team we've played we would have 'expected' to lose to, so far.
Pretty heartening how hard we were able to push India.
England and Pakistan both in big trouble.
If we beat Pakistan and Sri Lanka we should safely make the top 4 - and we get a couple of winnable swings of the bat against Oz and SA.
Yup wasn't like India smashed us. We were just short of 20 - 30 runs. Comfortable win for the overwhelming favorites but we weren't embarrassed.
The Afghans did us and the other top sides another favour by beating PakistanAnd we did ourselves a favour by beating them

South Africa are fucking flying at this CWC
Scores of 428, 311, 399, and 382
The loss to the Netherlands really stands out as they only scored 207.
de Kock now the leading run scorer as well.

Sure are.
Ironically, probably the least they'd be rated leading in, in their CWC history.

they'll fuck it up, they always do
i look forward to the new and interesting way they find to do it
-
so this CWC has now pretty much taken shape.
India favourites. South Africa and Australia now flying. We're looking super likely for the semis because everyone from 5 down looks a bit shit
Our record propped up by playing 4 games against the ordinary sides. Next two tells us if we are a chance or making up the numbers

England flew out of the blocks with a good start (apart from a missed lbw first ball), but they've fallen into a hole.
Bairstow ran out Root (well, probably both culpable), then got himself out shortly after - and now Butler has gone cheaply. 77/4 and in some trouble (Malan was first out).
