RWC Week 1: England v Argentina

@Catogrande well if a head on head contact with force (enough to cause decent damage), that's 100% the tackler's fault and easily avoidable isn't "that bad" , then what is?

YC for a complete accident. Even my daughter said so.
I hope you explained to her that it doesn't need to be deliberate to deserve a red
The ball receiver has all the rights, it's not that difficult

How delicious would it be after that performance for England to lose to both Japan and Samoa?
You’re so beautifully bloody Welsh.
Sad since '53, it's understandable

Not a single person thinking that Raynal had a shocker? I find that very odd especially as a neutral... I honestly thought his performance was dire. Not saying Argentina deserve to win. Too many upcoming games to rewatch the match... But if you do you bother to, just watch all those breakdown penalties... It’s a fukkin lottery out there...

For both sides
Raynal was no better or worse than he normally is and no decision was big enough to ‘rob’ the other team of a win
Argentina deservedly lost the match and it was a brilliant effort from a 14 man England
If Borthwick picks the right team for each match there’s no reason England can’t get to a SF
And as 2019 showed anything can happen then

No different to any other rugby match.
Whole game is a lottery, which is why many people are switching it off.
Score line reflected the match.

@MajorRage Pretty different in my book. Not even 7030... Just Dire. Raynal is either inept or bought…
-
I thought the ref was appalling, and the Poms played to his 'interpretations' better: that interpretation largely being that tacklers actually don't need to release the ball carrier.
There's nobody to blame but yourselves when you lose that badly to a 14 man team though. -

@NTA That's generally how games are won...
I just hope any draws are decided by number of tries scored
-
Fucking class display from the English though, completely shutting Argentina down after the early red was very impressive. If they play like that they'll give anyone a run. Very hard to break down and the way Ford is striking it he becomes a real threat come the knock out stages.

I applaud. Stops said English fans going out during the match and blocking the view.
-
@ACT-Crusader They will kick even more drop goals. Not much the rush defence can do against that tactic.
-
One thing I noted is that when England put up the bomb, they just wanted to cause chaos - get beyond the ball and it is very hard for a defender to get a clear run at a jumping catch. Usual result was a knock on one way or the other and another set piece suited them just fine.

The Argies gave Ford way too much time and space to kick them, even the ones he wasn’t that deep in the pocket. He will still have to vary his depth because England still like to commit numbers.
