All Blacks vs Springboks - Twickenham
-
yes there is risk, but
no way we can go in to that game against France with the top side having not played since July. The A side needs to get rolled out, and we deal with possible outcomes on Monday.
-
Yup I agree it's A team. Except, I'd start Roigard to give him more game time against a quality team. Smith can play 20 off the bench.
-
Yep agree with above 2 posts. Roigard could end up being point of difference for the ABs. Big upside.
Am going to this one. Been looking forward to it for ages.
Been doing a few reconnaisance missions to London last few months for rugby viewing pubs and WC.
Famous 3 Kings Fulham and The Pavillion End St Pauls look good. -
@BerniesCorner might see you there mate, easily recognisable.
-
@BerniesCorner i was hoping to go. But the wife needed a new car and kept signing our daughter up for dance courses. F@ck Canada is expensive.
-
So Frizell and BBBR crooked. Starting pack EDG/CT/TL/SB/SW/SC/Finau/AS.
Bench interesting. I’m assuming Ofa, Sami and Nepo as front rankers. Logic suggests Vaa’i to cover lock. But how about Lord as well and 6-2 split? Jacobson makes up forwards. A half back and ALB to cover all else?
-
Taking my eldest (9) to this and really looking forward to it.
Been trying to keep an eye out for any AB public facing sessions but haven't spotted any.
He mainly wants to meet a Barrett brother 😁
-
whats the chances of Havili playing in this one?... probably a few in the squad that need a run

I expect Finau at 6. Three of Lord/Vaa'i/Jacobson/Papali'i om bench. Leicester may not be needed.

Excited to see Moodie at 13.
Usually a wing/fullback isn't he?
-
Still hoping they play Roigard.

Yep. Very exciting young outside back. Curious to see how he goes at 13.
-
Looks like I’ve read it wrong and both teams are going to bring a lunch. See what it tastes like.

@pakman If there are picking the best side available, how can Finau and Lord who weren’t picked for World Cup squad be part of it unless there are further injuries.
They are in the Uk as potential cover.
Lord came over to cover Frizell. They need to give Big Sam and Scooter a run for 40, but then need to be pulled off for France.

Foster said something similar last week - they wanted to play their strongest team and players in cotton-wool was not the way to win World Cups.
Just hope it doesn't go badly for Ryan and Foster injury-wise.
-
Strong team

Might see Roigard instead of Christie, but yeah, pretty close I reckon.

@Victor-Meldrew Roigard has had what, 20 mins of rugby since end of super rugby?
Wouldn't be so bad if we had some minnows in the opening match to get some players in, but they all gotta uit the field running.

He did play 50 mins for CM in a pre-season game before his AB debut.
Finau could be on the bench but they will want to start the player who they will use at 6 against France.
BB might not be risked if he isn't 100% fit. Ofa still ahead of Williams in the no.17 jersey.
-
If Ryan wants to rollout our A team, he is obviously pretty confident with the players that can be brought in as replacements. In encounters like these it is usually the forwards that have the most injuries. Can see him calling in Joe Moody possibly Oly Yager after this one.

Foster said at squad naming that Finau could even start and then quickly changed subject..so for me he is definitely either starting or on bench at minimum

Jacques Niebnar confirmed that the 33 originally named Boks are the ones they have submitted to World Rugby. So unless there is an injury, Handre Pollard isn't coming in. (still think they will might find an injury)

Submissions aren't final until end of August, so it doesn't matter. You can change before then with no penalty
-
Why do the Boks always announce their team well before others do?
